Accounting

Got a head for numbers? Consider majoring in accounting. You’ll gain the “big picture” knowledge of the business world, while you study advanced accounting principles. Accounting is a math-oriented, numbers-focused discipline that requires focus and technical skills.

Many accounting majors decide to become Certified Public Accountants, or CPAs. When you complete the coursework for the accounting major, you’ll be prepared to take the CPA exam. Since requirements for eligibility vary from state to state, your faculty adviser will help you chart the best academic path for you.

Uniqueness

As an accounting major you’ll take courses in microeconomics, financial and managerial accounting, income tax accounting and auditing. Business communications, law, ethics and finance give you a broad business understanding and enhance communication skills. You’ll also learn how to utilize current technological applications to make your work more accurate and more efficient.
