Elementary Education

teach-elementaryBachelor of Arts in Elementary Education

Elementary Education at MNU prepares you to make a difference by teaching and mentoring children in the school setting. This major prepares you to instruct students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Pre-service teachings in this program get training and hands-on learning from field-based experiences in reading, mathematics, science, English and language arts, social studies, physical education and fine arts at elementary level. Develop the knowledge and skills to work with exceptional learners, understand developmental stages, use instructional technology, prepare lesson-plans and design assessment tactics.

With courses in cultural diversity in education, classroom management, elementary methods of art, reading and math, and philosophy of education, you’ll gain a wide understanding of how to teach young minds.

Uniqueness

You’ll be working with trained mentors in public, private, parochial, rural, urban, suburban, alternative, Title I and ESOL sites. With MNU’s emphasis on service learning, you’ll be able to experience helping others while gaining the education you seek: tutor students at a local youth center or write curriculum for students enrolled in schools in Africa. Or you can even experience other cultures with our international teaching opportunities in the Bahamas, Bulgaria, Switzerland and the Sun Valley Indian schools. In addition to the amazing opportunities at MNU, you’ll be learning in small class sizes with personalized attention from doctoral level faculty.
