Performance Emphasis

Bachelor of Arts in Music

If you’re passionate about music, an emphasis in Performance will give you the opportunity to develop your skills to the highest level. The rigorous program requires both talent and dedication. An audition is required for official admission to the program.

As a Music Performance student, you can choose from a vocal, piano or instrumental concentration. All students fulfill a piano proficiency requirement, demonstrating ability in four-part reading, accompaniment and improvisation. You’ll present two solo recitals and participate in varied performing opportunities on and off campus.

Uniqueness

Additional course requirements are related to building information and skill to help you create your own private teaching studio, including pedagogy courses and supervised practicums, where you are the teacher, and your teacher offers guidance.  Depending on your instrumental emphasis, your ensemble requirement will be fulfilled through participation with World Music Ensemble.

With more than 40,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities, the new Bell Center brings culture to campus in a new way. The 540-seat Mabee Performing Arts hall offers an exceptional acoustical environment.
