Health and Exercise Science
School of Nursing and Health Science
The Department of Health and Exercise Science offers programs in athletic training, physical education and kinesiology. Coursework incorporates lots of physical activity, giving students experience with a wide range of sports and recreation. Plus, students learn best practice educational methods, injury prevention and more, so they can help others enjoy physical activity, too.
Athletic training students learn clinical skills through hands-on training from Approved Clinical Instructors who are active professionals in the field: athletic trainers, physical therapists and medical doctors.
For physical education students, teaching practice is key. With some of the top-rated school districts in the country nearby, students gain exceptional experience as they fulfill their teaching practicum at schools in Olathe and surrounding districts.
