Interested in literature, writing and preparing students for using these skills to enrich their lives? The English Language Arts Education program at MNU will prepare you to fill the valuable role that ensures young adults develop literacy skills necessary for all aspects of life. As an English teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to share something you’re passionate about- literature and language – and serve as a positive influence in young people’s lives. You’ll study education courses, mastering issues like classroom management, curriculum development, educational media, cultural diversity and working with exceptional learners. Then you’ll dive into courses in American Literature, British Literature, World Literature, Shakespeare, Literary Criticism, English Composition and more. Serve on campus with joining staff of the Conestoga Yearbook or Trailblazer Times. MNU’s Teacher Education Program meets the requirements established by the Kansas and National Council for Accredidation of Teacher Education (NCATE). UniquenessMany MNU students study abroad at Oxford or EUNC while gaining credits for courses that count toward their major or electives. At MNU, you’ll have access to the Teacher Education Resrouce Center located in Mabee Library. This puts resources and reference materials at your fingertips. The center houses textbooks, trade books, curriculum guides, instructional materials and more. You’ll also find the integration of faith and academics that will help you explore your values as you encounter great works of literature.
