Studying this major, you’ll also become confident and knowledgeable in the design, implementation and assessment of science instruction and curriculum in ways that will allow your future students to learn easily. The Biology Education degree at MNU is designed to be a comprehensive study of biology subjects and pedagogical courses that completes all Kansas requirements for the 6-12 biology teacher certification. This program will prepare you to teach complex ideas and subjects in the biological and environmental sciences. UniquenessAt MNU, your secondary education degree is a perfect combination of content understanding, and teaching methods. You’ll become qualified to teach a variety of biological and ecological related courses at the high school and middle school level, as well as general science courses at the middle school level. Develop a deep understanding of scientific inquiry and the pedagogy of teaching sciences, by facilitating student research and designing and engaging students in hands-on laboratory experiences. You’ll also dive into many diverse subject areas in the sciences, such as: genetics, cell biology, ecology, anatomy and physiology, botany and zoology. Field Experiences & Clinical ExperiencesYou’ll complete four pre-student teaching field experiences in a number of schools. These four programs will be in the following areas:
