Athletic Training

Welcome to the MidAmerica Nazarene University Athletic Training Education home page. Athletic Training has been recognized as an allied health care profession by the American Medical Association since 1990. The primary purpose of any Athletic Training education program (ATEP) is to provide high quality health care for the physically active individuals it serves.

Here at MNU, we are responsible for the prevention, care and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by the 400+ athletes participating in 14 intercollegiate sports. This care includes pre-event and preventative taping and bracing, on the field evaluation and emergency care, appropriate physician referral, and follow-up rehabilitation. In order to provide the best care, the staff strives to be skillful and knowledgeable in the treatment of athletic injuries. They must also provide understanding and encouragement to athletes as they return to competition after an injury.

To meet these goals and live this philosophy, the student must accept for him/herself the responsibilities and professional demeanor which are inherent to the role of the athletic trainer.
