Letter to Prospective Student

Dear Prospective Athletic Training Student,

I appreciate the interest you have shown in Athletic Training at MidAmerica Nazarene University, so let me tell you a little about the program.

I am very excited about the future of our education program here at MNU. Our Physical Life and Wellness building, the Cook Center, houses our 2000 square foot Athletic Training room and lab. In this space we can teach our students within the major and also care for the athletes participating in our intercollegiate sports. The athletic training room contains a KinCom, which is an isokinetic strength training/testing device, numerous therapeutic modalities and other rehabilitation tools used in the profession, as well as a SwimEx. The SwimEx is an 18' X 8' resistive current pool used to return physically active individuals to their pre injury life-style. MNU is one of the only schools in the Kansas City metropolitan area to have such a tool. In addition to the facility within the Cook Center, the Athletic Training Education Program also utilizes a smaller athletic training room for several outdoor sports.

Not only do we have top-notch facilities, but in November 2003, we also obtained CAATE accreditation of our Athletic Training Education Program. Gaining CAATE accreditation was imperative for us to continue to produce competent, qualified Christians as ATEP graduates that could become NATA Board of Certification credentialed certified athletic trainers.

I would like very much for you to be a part of this program. We have financial aid available for you along with scholarship awards specifically for athletic training students.

I would love to hear from you regarding any questions or concerns you may have about the MNU Athletic Training Education Program. Please, don't hesitate to contact me at any time.

In His Service,

Jennifer Amborn, MEd, LAT, ATC
Director, Athletic Training Education Program
Assistant Athletic Trainer
