Scholarship Guidelines
In the MidAmerica Nazarene Athletic Training Education Program, scholarships are based upon monies allotted to the intercollegiate Athletic Training Funds for the given academic school year. According to the number, monies are broken down for each individual scholarship. Each student who receives a scholarship signs an acceptance letter to ensure that they understand the guidelines for maintaining it. The scholarship is rewarded at the end of the semester based on the compliance criteria that have been set forth. Failure to comply with the criteria results in penalties as described in the Policy Manual.
Athletic training students at MidAmerica Nazarene University are also afforded the opportunity to apply for the 'Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dance Scholarship' once they are admitted into the program. Students are given the opportunity to apply during the spring semester based on the criteria stated on the application form. When all of the applications are received, the full-time certified athletic trainers review the material, make their recommendation, and forward the information to Jeff Dance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dance. He reviews all the submitted material, taking into consideration the certified athletic trainer's recommendation and the winner is selected. At an athletic training staff meeting, the winner is announced, given his/her award and presented with a congratulatory letter from Mr. Dance. The winner's name is then placed on a plaque located in the Cook Center Athletic Training Room acknowledging his/her accomplishment.
