Humanities

MNU's Division of Humanities, comprising the departments of communication,
English, history, modern languages, and theatre arts rests at the heart of a liberal
arts education. Each student is personally encouraged and challenged
in the dynamic synthesis of their Christian faith, learning and
life. Young scholars are helped to attain those goals which are
relevant to an education in the liberal arts including:
A knowledge and appreciation of cultural, intellectual and
social development,
The skills needed to live intelligently and harmoniously
in an ever changing global village,
Development of interpersonal skills for successful personal,
spiritual, professional, business and cultural relationships,
A reasonable mastery of oral and written communication skills
in reading, writing, and speaking of the English language,
Appreciation of the role and significance of political factors
on human life,
Exposure to various local, national, and international multi-cultural
issues through theory and practice, and
Opportunities to appreciate and experience dramatic literature and live theatre including acting, tech, and directing.

Warmly,
Cynthia L. Peterson, Ph.D, Chair
