Sondra Cave, EdD, professor emeritus, was a keynote speaker at the Christian Music Broadcasters national convention in Orlando, Fla. this fall.

Patricia ‘Tish’ Conejo, PhD, RN, WHNP, associate professor of nursing, will be presenting her poster, “Creating a Curtain of Protection: Nurses’ Experiences of Grief Following Patient Death”  at the 16th Annual Midwest Regional Nursing Educators Conference November 10-11 in Columbia, Mo.

Mark Hayse, PhD, (’83) professor of Christian education, recorded and led a live webinar for Barefoot Ministries at Nazarene Publishing House on “Situated Learning Theory for Youth Ministry.”

Kim Humerickhouse, PhD, professor of teacher education, Steve Pillow, asst. professor of teacher education, and Mike Ramirez, (MET ’03), asst. professor of graduate studies in teacher education, co-presented two sessions at the Campus Technology Forum in Long Beach, California on September 26-28. Session 1 was the “PERK Grant's Virtual Professional Learning Communities,” and Session 2 was “E-Portfolios in Undergraduate and Graduate Teacher Education Programs.”

Faith Jacobsen, PhD, assistant professor of chemistry, presented her research entitled "Zinc and manganese homeostasis in Streptococcus pneumoniae and Myxococcus xanthus,” at the Midwest/Great Lakes Joint Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Saint Louis, Mo. 

Jacobsen was accompanied by two MNU senior chemistry students. Lauren Brumley presented a poster on her work entitled "Zinc homeostasis and swarm expansion in Myxococcus xanthus.” Joshua Transmeier presented a poster on his work started at MNU and continued at the University of Kansas, through an undergraduate research fellowship, entitled "Biomimetic studies of manganese (II) dioxygenase and cobalt-substituted enzymes.”

Kim Kato, EdD, NSCA-CPT, department chair, health and exercise science has been published in The Sport Journal. Her article is titled "Body Image Disturbances in NCAA Division I and III Female Athletes,"

Jason Robertson, MSN, RN, CCRN, CPEN, CEN, asst. professor of nursing, has two works that have been accepted for publication. “Student/Faculty Incivility” will be published in Nursing Education Perspectives. And a piece related to the use of high-fidelity simulation in nursing education, will be published in International Education Research Journal.

Karen Wiegman, PhD, RN, associate professor of nursing, will be presenting, “Healthcare Ethics Today and Tomorrow” at the Annual Heart of America Chapter of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses Conference on November 3.
