Alumni Council 2011-2012

The Office of Alumni Relations is currently seeking nominations for alumni council members from districts that make up MNU's educational zone.  We are looking for nominations from these districts:  Joplin, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Prairie Lakes.

 

Craig DoaneCraig Doane ('80)

Council President and Board of Trustees Representative

Craig is the VP for Publications and Strategic Partnerships at the American Academy of Family Physicians.  He is married to Laurie ('81) and has a son, Derek, who is a junior at MNU, and a daughter, Carly, who is a high school senior.

 


Debbie Jasiczek-1Debbie Jasiczek ('01)

Council Vice President

Debbie is the Sr. Software Engineering Team Leader for Consumer Technology at Garmin International.  She was born and raised a Pioneer and has enjoyed being a member of the MNU Alumni Council for three years.  She has especially enjoyed the Garmin/MNU luncheons, Homecoming under the Big Tent and working the Alumni concession stands.  She is married to Mike Jasiczek (BA '00, MET '02), and they live in Olathe, KS.

 


RuAnn Bottles-2RuAnn Bottles ('80)

Council Secretary

RuAnn is the Vice-President of Human Resources at KidsTLC, a Non-Profit based in Olathe that serves children and families in crisis. She received her undergrad degree as well as a Masters in Organizational Administration/Leadership from MNU. She has three sons, Trenton, Tyler and Taylor – all of whom attended MNU, and one daughter, Savanna, who is a junior at Olathe South High School.  This is her third year to serve on the Alumni Council and she does so because she truly believes that MNU prepares students to be missional in their love of God and people and to share Him generously.


Josh Dampf

Josh Dampf ('11)

Council Member

Josh graduated from MNU in 2011 with a Bachelors degree in Youth and Family Ministry. While a student at MNU, Josh was deeply involved in Student Government.  He has recently been hired to plan and coordinate the Nazarene Student Leadership Conference, which will take place at MNU in 2013. Josh is currently a student at Nazarene Theological Seminary where he is studying to get his Masters in Christian Formation and Discipleship. He is currently working as a High School Co-Pastor at College Church of the Nazarene.

Director of Alumni Relations

Kevin is the Director of Alumni Relations at MidAmerica Nazarene University. After twenty years as an entrepreneur and businessman Kevin returned to MNU in 2010 as Director of Alumni Relations. He is married to Shawna Garber ('95).  Kevin and Shawna have two sons, Matthew, age 10 and Michael, age 8.  They reside in Baldwin City, KS, where Shawna operates Three Sisters Inn Bed and Breakfast.

 


Josh HankeyJosh Hankey ('06)

Council Member

Josh is the Director of Bands at Santa Fe Trail Middle School for the Olathe School District.  He was deeply involved in music ministry and campus activities while at MNU.  He says, "The events that I was involved with impacted me in ways that cannot be explained with words."  Josh is currently engaged to Dawn Ellis ('09).

 


Jill KenneyJill Kenney ('98)

Council Member

Jill Kenney graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2001. Prior to earning her Juris Doctrate degree, Jill graduated magna cum laude from MidAmerica Nazarene University with B.A. in history and English in 1998.  In 2011, Jill founded the Kenney Law Firm. This latest venture has allowed her to fully realize her passion for helping people at all levels of litigation and protection.  Jill has stayed active in the MNU community including serving on MNU's Board of Trustees and Alumni Council.


Karen Garber Miller

Karen Garber-Miller ('89)

Council Member

Karen got her undergraduate degree in English Education at MNU, her master's degree in English Education at SNU and her Ph.D. in language and literacy at UMKC.  Karen is the Dean of the School of Education at Avila University.  Along with preparing future teachers, Karen enjoys participating in international education and child development projects around the world.  She and her husband Cort both developed interests in cross cultural ministries and service to vulnerable populations while attending MNU.


Joel SpeckJoel Speck ('04)

Council Member

Joel Speck was born and raised in Olathe and is proud to call Olathe home.  He graduated from MNU in 2004 with a degree in Church Music.  He has been on staff at College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe since July 2004 as Technical Director and Chief Audio Engineer.  He also works part-time at MNU in the Campus Safety department and as a media technician at the Bell Cultural Events Center.  His hobbies include music, theatre, and spending time with his family.  This is Joel's third year on the Alumni Council.


Cheryl Stevens

Cheryl Stevens ('72)

Council Member

Cheryl taught full time at MNU and taught as an adjunct for ONU and NBC.  She has ministered in the Church of the Nazarene alongside her husband on the local, district and global level for 36 years.  Cheryl graduated in the first class from MNU, taught there during the early years and has believed in and supported MNU's mission since its inception.  Cheryl is married to Woodie ('73) and has two children, Michelle and Geoff ('02).  She also has six grandchildren: Josh, Kylee, Katie, Beckett, Kaylen and Rowen.
