Scottsdale

May 16-18, 2014 - Hosted by Scottsdale residents Chuck ('75) and Kathy ('77) Nunamaker and MNU basketball coach Rocky ('76) and Jo (MED '91) Lamar, this Pioneer Adventure features 3 days and 2 nights of golf, spa and/or shopping.  You are also invited to join our hosts and University President David J. Spittal for an optional 3rd night on Thursday, May 15, at the home of Chuck and Kathy Nunamaker in the desert estates of north Scottsdale for hor d'oeuvres and fellowship.

Lodging

Adventurers will stay at Spring Hill Suites, located at 17020 N. Scottsdale Rd.

Itinerary

Friday, May 16 - Enjoy a full day of golf in scenic Scottsdale, or spend the day shopping at one of the areas listed below.  Golf begins at 11:00 a.m. with 18 holes at Starfire Golf Club, a hidden gem in Scottsdale offering 27 holes lined with mature eucalyptus, pine and cottonwood trees and a scenic view of the McDowell Mountains.  In the afternoon, relax in the hot tub, take a swim in the pool or feel free to explore Scottsdale on your own.  The group will eat dinner together Friday night at Pinnacle Peak Patio Steakhouse.

Saturday, May 17 - Saturday begins with early golf at TPC Scottsdale's Champions Course, which flows seamlessly within the naturally rugged terrain, meandering between natural ravines and through picturesque foothills.  There will be plenty of time to shop or relax and pamper yourself at the spa. Saturday evening dinner features top-shelf Mexican cuisine under the stars on the patio at Jalapeno Inferno Bistro Mexicano.

Sunday, May 18 - Before departure, the group will worship together at Highlands Church.

This adventure includes choice of 2 or 3 nights lodging, hot breakfast each morning, dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as ground shuttle transportation to and from the hotel to event venues.  Optional selections include Thursday evening dinner and overnight lodging.

Shopping Options:

  • Scottsdale Quarters -  This hip, urban destination sits on 28 acres with 370,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment options amid elegant, diverse architecture and lush landscaping.
  • Cave Creek - From western wear to consigned designer fashions, home accessories, Native American crafts, pottery, postcards and souvenirs to fine art and furnishings, Cave Creek has an eclectic mixture of shopping.
  • Outlets at Anthem - Open air shopping area, featuring more than 60 designer brand shops.
