Men's Baskeball

MidAmerica is beginning their 40th year of basketball after a monumental season in 2006-07.  The Pioneers won their first NAIA Division II National Championship. This was MidAmerica's ninth straight appearance at the national tournament and twelfth overall. MNU also won their ninth HAAC championship and finished the season 34-2.

The Pioneers will have to replace four great players; Jake Nellor, Akuien Wour, Ryan Rundberg, and Matt Clark in order to defend their title. MNU has five players returning that have varsity experience. At the top of the list is Senior First Team All-American Adam Hepker. Adam was also the Conference player of the year. He is the leader on and off the court for the Pioneers. MidAmerica also returns 3 juniors for the 2007-08 campaign: Danny Hawkins was a first team all-conference player and voted second team All-American, Cal Kiburz a great inside/outside player, and Austin Boots who had significant minutes his freshman year. The final returnee is sophomore Brenton Bell who will start as a shooting guard.

The MNU 2006-07 Junior Varsity team will provide some depth for this year's team. Brady Small a junior forward and Jonathan Knipker a junior guard are fighting for playing time. Sophomore Ben Swinger will provide depth for the big men.

The Pioneers have also brought in 2 junior college transfers.  Junior Brandon Cameron from Hutchinson Junior College will give MidAmerica another great shooter.  Sophomore Vincent Thompkins is looking for playing time at the point.

The MNU Pioneers are not satisfied with just one National title and have worked hard again this past summer and fall. They are trying once again to duplicate last year's chemistry and bring the same unselfish style of play to the 2007-08 campaign.
