The Pioneers ran into the NAIA's top-ranked team on Thursday and fell to Azusa Pacific 3-1 at the National Tournament. APU led 1-0 at halftime, then got a goal early in the second half to stretch the lead. A PK put the Pioneers in a huge hole in the 55th minute. The Pioneers advanced to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament on Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Covenant (GA). Goals by Dave Richards and Alec Lemmon were the difference in a very physical game that saw several yellow cards for both teams. "This is a great win for our program," says Coach Wardlaw. "The performance in the second half was what I have been waiting to see for some time from these guys."
