RHC Job Duties and Characteristics
RHC Directors (One male, one female):
- Provide active, responsible leadership on campus
- Represent the ideals and values of MidAmerica Nazarene University to the students.
- Conduct the day-to-day business of RHC as outlined in the RHC Constitution and as directed by RHC Council legislation.
- Call and conduct the RHC council meetings.
- Call and conduct the RHC Executive Cabinet meetings at least biweekly.
- Provide inspiration and vision for the directions that RHC should take.
- Strive at all times for the awareness of student needs and the improvement of conditions in the residence halls.
- Meet regularly and work with the RHC sponsors in the coordination and direction of activities.
- Oversee the implementation of programs and policies set forth by RHC.
- Serve as liaison between the ASG Council, Student Life Council, and RHC Council.
- Appoint the position of Secretary for the RHC Council.
- Organize special committees as needed.
- Organize all-school functions (programming events).
- Organize RHC elections.
- Organize orientation and training for RHC members.
- Serve on the Student Life Council.
- Serve on the University Judicial Council.
- Have five consistent daytime office hours a week, which will be posted in the RHC office.
- Be familiar with and follow the RHC Constitution.
- Support by regular attendance the various activities sponsored by RHC and encourage attendance other campus-wide activities.
- Keep a notebook of all activity planning that shall be passed on to the next year's director.
- Mentor successor to the satisfaction of the RHC Advisor.
- You are a vital part in what happens on your hall
- Call hall council meetings regularly (at least monthly)
- Develop open communication lines with the RA's
- Plan/brainstorm for exciting hall parties, bro/sis hall activities, service projects
- Instrumental in creating memories, unity, and friendships.
- Create and put into operation the Open House Duty List for the hall
- Assist in the operation of Open House
- Coordinate the creation of hall apparel
- Learn and exhibit servanthood and proper delegation
- Attend RHC Council meetings
- Make sure that minutes are taken and distributed during each meeting.
- Serve on the Residence Hall Judicial Council
- Satisfactory completion of these requirements receives a $100 scholarship
Judicial Council Representative:
- Hall President's "right-hand-person"
- Consistently attends hall council meetings
- Attend RHC Council meetings
- Take minutes at these council meetings
- Offer your input/ideas to brainstorm sessions for activities for the hall
- Assist in the operation of Open House
- Bring hall concerns and needs to the attention of the RHC
- Serve on the Residence Hall Judicial Council
- Create zeal in your hall for growth and group participation
- Meet with and support the hall council
- Attend RHC Council meetings
- Coordinate the brainstorming for ideas and planning for activities that will advance the social and spiritual well being of the hall.
- Take charge of advertising for hall activities
- Responsible for securing funds for all hall activities from the RE
- Bring hall concerns and needs to the attention of the RHC
- Serve on the Residence Hall Judicial Council
- Assist in the operation of Open House
Resident Assistant Representative:
- Attend each buildings' RA/RE meetings at least once a month or even more frequently as necessary
- Contact RA's and RE's with agenda items for upcoming RHC Council meeting following RHC Executive Cabinet Meetings
- Present RA/RE feedback and issues to RHC Executive Cabinet, Council, and Co-Directors
- Attend RHC Executive Cabinet Meetings
- Attend RHC Council Meetings
- Attend RHC Council retreat in the fall
- Actively participate in all RHC sponsored events/activities
