"Scholarships mean my future;
they remind me of my privilege to be here."

Senior Sara Phipps has a heart for children, a passion to serve, and a killer spike. This avid volleyball player joined the Pioneers in 2008. “I love volleyball and I really like the Athletic Department here and the people in it!” Her real reason for coming to MNU, though, was to focus on building her walk with Christ and preparing to follow His calling. “I chose MNU because of its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to Christ; I want to go into social work when I’m done at MNU.”

A Sociology/Psychology major, Sara has worked out a strategy to achieve her dream job of being a Child’ s Advocate. “I hope to work as a Child’s Advocate for a couple of years and then possibly return to get my Master’s. I also would love to work abroad for a couple of years,
time permitting.

”Service, at home and abroad, are not unfamiliar to Sara. “I volunteer at Community LINC, through volleyball, and as a Young Life summer staffer,” reported Sara. Sara has also been on two mission trips to Mexico.

She knows she’s chosen a difficult road and that there are those who enable her to follow it. “Scholarships mean my future. They motivate me to work hard, not to take anything for granted, and remind me of my privilege to be here.”
