"I am grateful that people who donate believe
in me and my education."

For many people calculus is about as enjoyable as having a root canal minus the sedative. Yet to Andrea Eick, it is what she wants to do for the rest of her life. “I want to teach high school math, more specifically, I would like to teach calculus,” Andrea explained.

When determining which university she wanted to attend, MNU had several factors in its favor. “When I visited MNU, I really liked the community and I knew I wanted to attend a Nazarene school,” Andrea said. It didn’t hurt that her older brother was a 2005 graduate and that her younger sister is planning to attend in 2009.

While balancing equations, Andrea also worked out a formula to balance her college life. “It is easy to get sucked into one of the extremes, either social life or academics, but you need to stay balanced with everything you do.”

Andrea knows what she’s talking about; not only is she a standout student in Math and Math Education, but she is involved in Residence Hall Council, Heritage choir, PR traveling teams, math tutoring and volunteering at a day care.

Andrea sees all of her activities as part of her education and thanks those who empower her to continue. “When someone donates money that allows me to have a scholarship, I am grateful that they believe in me and my education.
