"School is expensive, so scholarships are a big relief."
Most college students are in the stage of life where distancing themselves from their parents and family can be their highest priority. Heather Cunard has a different tact on things. “Spend as much time with your family as you can while they’re still with you, because they might not be there forever.”
But just because Heather values time with her family doesn’t mean that she’s not enjoying life at MNU. A member of the basketball team and studying Psychology, she still manages to participate in every intramural sport she can, attend small group and church services while volunteering with SWAT, a campus community outreach group.
Heather’s love of outreach stems from the fact that she understands how fortunate her life has been and that others don’t always experience that. Her plans for a career also flows from wanting to bless others. “I want to somehow be able to help kids who grew up in less fortunate circumstances than I was blessed with, so that they can all have a chance,” she related.
Heather’s blessings include scholarships, for which she is very grateful. “School is expensive, so any extra financial help is a big relief and will help reduce my debt when I graduate.”
