"Scholarships validate my calling,
encourage my dreams, and hold me accountable."

Modern Christians have regained the understanding that ministry doesn’t come with a set formula. Just ask Erik Unruh.

“You can be in ministry wherever you are,” Erik explained. “If you want to practice ministry, you don’t have to be a ministry major.” A Nursing major who started out as a Ministry major, Erik took his own advice. “I originally chose Ministry, but later switched to Nursing so I could help meet the physical needs of people and help people anywhere in the world.” Erik has been helping people ever since he began at MNU; his credentials include being a Resident Assistant for two years, one of the leaders of MNU’s Homeless Ministry, a Kansas City Rescue Mission volunteer, and a Heart to Heart volunteer in Guatemala. His servant heart is matched by a wide smile that comes easily to everyone he meets.

This compassionate student leader almost never became a Pioneer. “I initially enrolled at another school, but after further consideration felt MNU was for me,” Erik said. “The admissions counselors were a huge help in finding ways to make it possible for me to come here.”

One of those ways was through scholarships. “Scholarships let me know that someone believes in me,” related Erik. “Scholarships validate my calling, encourage my dreams, and hold me accountable in my studies.”
