"I wanted to find the right college... at MNU,I had already found it."
God has an interesting way of changing our minds for us. Just ask Liza Zumbrunnen. “I came to MNU planning to only attend a semester,” recounted Liza. “I wanted to do something while I waited to find the ‘right’ college. After two weeks at MNU, I decided I had already found it.”
Liza also found out that she was not just a trumpet performer. “I realized that I ultimately wanted to teach,” she explained. With experience teaching private lessons, the step was an easy one for her. “Eventually I want to become a band director and I want some day to be a professor, possibly forming or joining a Christian music camp.”
Through all of her experiences, Liza keeps her thoughts fixed on Jesus. “If God wants you somewhere, He will make it so.”
At MNU, Liza has gotten to immerse herself in the music that she loves, taking part in Concert Band, Gaelic Brass, and Hymnal Brass. In addition, she has played in the orchestras for Fiddler on the Roof and The Creation. She also volunteers with the MNU recycling club, the Overland Park Orchestra, and the Junior Achievement Club.
The way Liza sees it, her contributions to MNU and the community are a way of paying back the University for scholarships that came from donors she never knew.
