Current TV shows like CSI and Law & Order have glamorized the lives of those who work for justice. Yet besides using cool technology to catch bad guys, junior Gabriella Olson has another reason for majoring in Criminal Justice. “I have a heart for people who have found themselves in messy circumstances and need to get back on the right track,” Olson expressed. Olson’s big heart is also evident in her extracurricular activities. Although kept busy as an active member of the softball team, she still visits a nursing home on a weekly basis and has gone on several mission trips throughout the country.

Olson loves to encourage others to serve as well. “Get involved. The sky really is the limit,” she advises to new students. “Most people have more ability and talent than they realize; they just need the drive to discover it and use it.” Planning to use her own talents and abilities in the best possible way, Olson has chosen a difficult, but worthy career path. “I plan to work with juveniles in a rehab setting or work at a women’s crisis center.”

Just as Olson wishes to pour herself into the lives of others, she is grateful to those who pour into hers. “Because I don’t have a ton of money, scholarships mean a great deal to me. They make it possible for me to attend MNU.”
