Sports Management

Bachelor of Arts

If you’re interested in sports and recreation, and want to share your love for fitness with others, consider a degree in Sports Management. While the Physical Education degree prepares graduates to teach in public schools, the Sports Management degree enables graduates to work or coach in other settings—fitness programs, recreational leagues, college sports, health clubs and more.

As a Sports Management major, you’ll develop the knowledge base and skill set to work in the field of fitness and recreation. You’ll learn how to develop class plans to help each student develop in the most productive way. You’ll learn the skills of professional behavior in different settings. You’ll learn coaching strategies and rules of the game for sports such as basketball, baseball, softball, football, volleyball, and track and field. Recognizing each individual’s responsibility for embracing spiritual and physical wellness, you’ll solidify your appreciation for lifelong health and fitness.

You can choose an emphasis in either fitness and wellness or coaching. Many students also choose to minor in psychology, sociology, communication or a related field, expanding their career opportunities.
