MAX 2011 is not just about competitions - it is about using our abilities for God and reuniting over 500 churches from across the region for a God-enriching time together. What is MAX?MAX (MidAmerica Xtreme) takes place yearly on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University. The purpose of this event is to “connect youth of the North Central Region NYI to MidAmerica Nazarene University.” Information is being sent to every Nazarene church on the educational region. Your prayers, support and involvement will make this the highest quality event possible. Worlds of Fun (Nazarene Night) Worlds of Fun Ticket Order Form Cost for MAXThe cost is $30.00 per participant for up to 3 events, including Talent events and a maximum of 1 team-bracketed event. Bible Quizzing is considered a team-bracketed event, and one Art entry equals one event. See Talent Rules for more specifics. The cost for student spectators is $10.00. Adults are free. Please check with your District Coordinator for any additional district costs (district shirts, travel, etc.). Applications will not be available on the website. Question/Answer Time for ParentsWe are pleased that your son or daughter is considering MNU. Please join us for an informational session in the Allega Room (2nd floor) in Cook Center at 2:00 on Friday, April 15, to learn about the MNU experience. In this session, you will come to understand why we are passionate about helping students discover their purpose, and you will hear about our commitment to provide experiential education that equips students with confidence and skill to enter ministry or the work force. Admissions Counselors will be available to answer your questions about the admissions process, financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Join us for refreshments while you discover all the possibilities at MNU. Coaches’ MeetingA coaches’ meeting will be held on Thursday, April 16, at 3:00 PM in the Allega Conference Room (Cook Center – 2nd floor). This is a mandatory meeting for all coaches of athletic events. Registration Forms/Check-In at MAXThe registration and release form (including registration fee) must be filled out and turned in to the District Coordinator (check to see when your district forms are due to your DC). The DC will turn their district forms in to the MAX Registrar at MNU no later than March 31st. On Thursday, April 14, only the District Coordinator will check in with the MAX Registrar at 2:00 PM at the Information Center in Cook Center to pick up the packets (pre-ordered meal tickets, booklets, etc.) to be distributed at their district huddle (see above). Mark Your CalendarNext year’s MAX event at MNU is April 19-21, 2012. Nazarene Night at Worlds of Fun will be on Friday, April 20. Talent RegistrantsAll students must be registered for MAX prior to the deadline. If a student’s entry requires a sign-up time, the student talent participant will be responsible for signing up for his/her own performance time. Students will report to the Cook Center on Thursday at 2:00 PM to sign up for a time slot for their specific talent category. This is on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-ups will end at 6:00 PM on Thursday – no late sign-ups will be permitted. If you cannot be there between 2:00-6:00 PM, it is the student’s responsibility to call DeAnne Arnold, Regional MAX Talent Director, at 913-219-6558 (cell) to schedule early. If you have questions, contact your District Coordinator or DeAnne Arnold by phone or at {ml7}. All entries will be judged on site on Friday. See the Talent Rules/Fine Arts criteria for more specifics. Competition Events at MAXTalent (art, creative writing, drama, vocal solo, vocal ensemble, instrumental solo, instrumental ensemble, keyboard, worship band), Bible Quizzing (a team-bracketed event), and Athletics (men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, dodge ball, flag football, soccer, bowling, table tennis, and 3-point contest) competitions will take place at MAX. Three-point contests will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday. There will be no alternative times for the 3-point contest. Various games will begin at 4:00 PM. Talent competition will be on Friday. All-Star Selection ProcessThe All-tournament and MVP selections process will be determined as follows: Ballots are to be given to the head coach and will be distributed upon completion of that game. The coach is to select one of the top players from their team and two from their opposing team, based upon the athlete’s character, sportsmanship and skills. These ballots are to be collected by event director at the conclusion of that game. At the end of the tournament, one MVP and the number of players that comprise a team for each of the sports will be selected for an all-tournament team. The MVP selection is not automatically picked from the first place team. One spot on the all-tournament team may be filled by the tournament directors, if needed. All ties in the voting process will be broken by the tournament directors. Awards will be presented during the MAXed Out Awards Ceremony on Saturday afternoon in the Cook Center. Meals are Available at MNUThe Pioneer Food Service meal package for MAX is for 3 meals (breakfast and lunch on Friday and brunch on Saturday). The cost for the package is $13.00. The total cost of meals, if purchased individually, is $13.50. Meal times are 7:30-8:30 for hot breakfast, 8:30-9:30 for continental breakfast, 11:00-1:30 for lunch, 11:00-1:00 for brunch, and 5:00-7:00 for dinner. Call the Office of Admissions at 1-800-800-8887, ext. 3380, by Friday, April 8, to order your meal package. Housing for MAXHotel Guide for MAX will assist you in making room reservations for MAX. One person should coordinate all plans and contact that hotel for the entire group. Remember: tax is not included in the listed rates. Because it is two weeks before finals, MNU does not encourage MAX participants to stay on campus. MAX at NITEThe Thursday night worship service will take place in the College Church Sanctuary at 7:45 PM with Warren Rogers III, our own MNU Admissions Director, and music and drama from the MNU Fine Arts Department. You will be served communion by your District Presidents. This is going to be a service like no other. You don’t want to miss it. Nazarene Family Night at Worlds of FunNazarene Family Night at Worlds of Fun (WOF) will be on Friday, April 15, from 6:00 PM to 12:00 midnight. We hope you will promote this event as a "Family Event". There is something for everyone - concerts by MNU music groups, thrilling rides and attractions, and the opportunity to visit with friends from around the MNU region. The ticket prices for 2011 will be the same as last year's prices. Churches can consign tickets for as low as $22.50. Tickets may be purchased online for $24.18 or at the MNU Business Office for $24.50. The price at the gate will be $29.00. The money raised at this event supports MNU music scholarships. Award Ceremony – MAXED OUTThe Award Ceremony will be at the conclusion of the championship games on Saturday. Individual and team awards will be given for the top 3 in each competitive category for both junior high and senior high. A district award (the MAD MAX) will be given to the district with the most total points. Winners from a special prize drawing for Talent participants will also be announced. |
