Spanish

Bachelor of Arts

Spanish is a beautiful language. And mastering fluency will allow you to access—or experience in a new way—the literature and history of a fascinating group of cultures: Central America, South America and Spain. In the United States, Spanish fluency will enable you to communicate with a broad population of immigrants and non-English speakers, creating many opportunities for service, ministry and careers.

As a Spanish major at MNU, you’ll explore Hispanic and Latin American literature, culture and geography. You’ll learn to communicate effectively in Spanish, emphasizing skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

There’s no better way to experience a language and culture then by interacting face-to-face. Nearly all Spanish majors take advantage of MNU’s study abroad opportunities for an international experience in a Spanish-speaking country.

Why MNU?

Study abroad provides a rewarding way to experience another culture and language, and effortlessly increase your fluency. Through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), students can travel in diverse locations all over the world, including Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and more. The Nazarene International Language Institute offers a semester study abroad program in Quito, Ecuador, with total Spanish immersion.

If you don’t choose to major in Spanish, you can still receive acknowledgment of your advanced language study with a Conversational Spanish Certificate. This credential will serve as a valuable asset in many careers.

Clubs & Organizations

MNU’s International Student Community—a student-led campus organization—offers fellowship and support to international students. Your participation will help make your international classmates feel at home. Plus, you might get a chance to practice your language skills with native speakers.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

MNU offers study abroad scholarships to three students each semester. Contact Dr. Doug Henning for more information at {ml0}.
