MNU's own Tanya Khvitsko, a corporate communications senior from Belarus, ran her first race Oct. 8 with new prosthetic running legs, in the 13th Annual Jared Coones Pumpkin Run in Olathe. Tanya is one of 50 members of Team MNU that ran in the 5K to benefit cancer research in which more than 3500 runners participated. Tanya hopes to train to become a Paralympian.

Many Kansas City area residents donated so that Tanya could be fitted with the special running legs, her first set allowing her to race. Her physical condition is considered to be a result of nuclear fallout from the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Watch her enthusiasm in a video clip at: http://vimeo.com/30441282.
