Olathe Mayor Michael Copeland ('84) and Sergeant Johnny Roland ('04) of the Olathe Police Department are both proud MNU alumni. Now they are also among the few to be honored with awards from the Olathe branch of the NAACP. Copeland received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award at the 7th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy and Scholarship Awards Dinner at the Overland Park Marriott Hotel on Jan. 17. Roland, who serves as the Olathe Police Department’s spokesperson, was honored with the Diversity Advocate in Law Enforcement Award, and MNU head football coach Jonathan Quinn was given the Diversity Advocate in Sports Award.
