Student Health Care

MNU is devoted to assisting students in developing lifestyles of total wellness, as well as finding ways to help in their clinical health needs. Recognizing that one's physical, emotional, and spiritual health are interrelated, we are committed to nurturing all three aspects.

MNU students who need or desire health care should contact a nearby health care facility.

Health Care Requirements for Admission to MNU

  • Completed and signed Student Health Form.
  • Proof of immunizations, including dates.

Immunization Policy
Students at MNU are required to complete a health history and immunization record before enrolling in classes. You should submit your proof of immunizations to the Community Formation office, located in Campus Center. These immunizations will become a part of your individual health record.

In keeping with the standards for immunization set by the Centers for Disease Control and adopted by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the following immunizations are required for traditional students at MNU:

  • Meningitis Vaccine (New Requirement) For all students living in residential housing
  • Measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), 2 doses for all students who were born after January 1, 1957.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria booster, within the last 10 years.
The following immunizations are not required, but highly recommended by the American College Health Association and the Centers for Disease Control.
  • Tuberculosis screening (within the last 12 months)
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine (series of three vaccines, available in the MNU Health Center)
  • Varicella: Chicken Pox (two doses for those with no history of disease or with a negative antibody titer.)
  • Influenza: Flu (one dose annually in the Fall season - may be available in the fall on campus)

Questions about your Health Care Records?
If you or your parents do not have records of your immunizations, ask your high school for a copy of your health file. If you received any shots at your doctor's office or public health department, they may also be able to provide copies of records. If you are transferring from another college or university, ask for a copy of any health information you might have provided to that institution.

For International Students
International students need verification of a second MMR; Td (tetanus/diphtheria) booster, within the last ten years; TB (tuberculosis) skin test within the last 12 months; and an IVP injection for an adult who has never been immunized against polio.

If you have a medical condition that renders it unsafe to receive the immunizations, you must provide signed documentation from your physician. Members of religious organizations whose teachings are opposed to immunizations must submit a written statement to be on file in the Student Health Center.

Confidentiality Statement
All information and student health history forms at MNU are confidential and are used to advise students regarding their health needs. No information is released from your MNU record without the student’s specific, written permission.

Medical Insurance

For students who have no other health insurance coverage, low-cost group health insurance may be purchased during college registration. Information about insurance coverage and cost is available from the Business Office, located in the Lunn Building or by calling 913-971-3294.
