MidAmerica Nazarene University invites elementary and secondary teachers to participate in a two-day continuing education workshop:
Improve Your Lesson: Take it Outdoors
Promoting Clear-eyed Wonder in the Outdoors
Dates: Monday and Tuesday, June 1-2, 2015
Time: 8:00am – 4:00pm (Tuesday, June 2nd we may start at 7:00am to avoid the heat)
Location: 106 Osborne Hall, MidAmerica Nazarene University, 2030 E. College Way, Olathe, KS 66062 (Travel to outdoor locations on campus and to the Prairie Center, 26325 W 135th St., Olathe, KS 66061)
Audience: Elementary and Secondary Teachers
Description: This workshop is appropriate for elementary and secondary teachers in all disciplines and will promote the utilization of outdoor learning environments in a variety of disciplines (science, math, art, social studies, language arts). Outdoor resources will be used on the MNU Olathe campus and at Prairie Center in Olathe, Kansas. Teachers will 1) learn about the benefits of using outdoor and nature resources in their own discipline; 2) engage in exemplar (best practices) outdoor-oriented, developmentally appropriate learning activities; and 3) if credit is desired, will plan and submit an essay paper on outdoor education as well as an outdoor lesson with a focus on learning standards relevant to their own content. Two hours of continuing education credit are available from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Credit: 2 hours of Continuing Education credit are offered.
Cost: $180 registration fee for ALL registrants. If Continuing Education credit is desired, $90/credit + $180 registration fee = total cost of $360. Lunch is provided.

You will have full access to MNU's biology, chemistry and forensic lab facilities.
