From Your Regional NYI President
Final preparations for MAX 2008 are being made, and there are so many reasons why every youth group should plan to come. MAX is not just about competitions - it is about using our abilities for God and reuniting over 500 churches from across the region. Plan to be at MNU on April 17-19, 2008. If you have questions, please contact me at bsmith@hutchfirstnaz.org or at 620-662-1283.

What is MAX?
MAX (MidAmerica Xtreme) takes place yearly on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University. The purpose of this event is to “connect youth of the North Central Region NYI to MidAmerica Nazarene University.” Information is being sent to every Nazarene church on the educational region. Your prayers, support and involvement will make this the highest quality event possible.

Cost for MAX
The cost is $30.00 per participant for up to 3 events (maximum of 1 team-bracketed event). Reminders: Bible Quizzing is considered a team-bracketed event, and one Art entry equals one event. The cost for student spectators is $10.00. Adults are free.

MAX at NITE
The Thursday night worship service will take place in the College Church Sanctuary at 8:00 with Starfield, who led worship at NYC ’07 in St. Louis. The group is composed of brothers Tim and Jon Neufeld on vocals and guitars, drummer John Andrews and bassist Shaun Huberts. Possessing a cognizance beyond their years and knowing both what they want to do as musicians and what they want to do as children of God, these young men are fusing their talents and mission to challenge their generation to strengthen their faith and make it their own. In 2003, Starfield garnered a Juno Award nomination (Canada’s equivalent of a Grammy Award) and won five Vibe Awards (equivalent to the Dove Awards) for best Artist, Group, Song, Rock/Alternative Album and Worship Album of the Year.

Must Attend a Nazarene Church
Each participant must be attending a Nazarene Church regularly 60 days prior to participating at MAX.

Talent Registrants
Self-registration. Student talent participants will be responsible for signing up for their own performance time. Students will report to Cook Center on Thursday at 2:00 PM to sign up for a time slot for their specific talent category. This is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have questions, contact your District Coordinator or the Regional MAX Talent Director, Amanda Brant, at 417-865-4499 or Amanda.Brant@coxhealth.com.

Competition Events at MAX
The following competitions will take place at MAX: Talent (art, creative writing, drama, puppets, speech, vocal solo, vocal ensemble, instrumental solo, instrumental ensemble, keyboard, band, vocal and instrumental original composition, video design, and web design), Bible Quizzing (a team-bracketed event), and Athletics (men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, dodge ball, flag football, skateboarding, soccer, power lifting, bowling, table tennis, and 3-point contest). Three-point contests will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday with various games beginning at 4:00. Talent competition will be on Friday.

EVERYONE Must Register
All coaches, sponsors, spectators and event participants MUST register through your district coordinator. Points are given to each district for the total number of people attending MAX.

Housing for MAX

The cost is $21.50 before April 4; then the price goes up to $23.50 (through 5:00 on Friday, April 18). The price at the gate will be $28.00.
