About Shadow Glen Golf Club

Shadow Glen is nationally known and was named the "Best New Course of the Year" by Golf Digest in 1989. The tradition of Shadow Glen continues to this day, as the course was listed as Kansas City's #1 course by Golf Digest in its 2009-10 rankings. Shadow Glen has been ranked in the Top 5 Courses in Kansas every year since its opening. Other awards for Shadow Glen include being one of "America's Greatest 100 Courses" by Golf Digest (1995) and among the "Top 10 Courses in Kansas" by Golf Digest (1999). In Golf Digest's March 2000 issue, Hole #13, was chosen as one of America's best 18 holes.

Conceived to meet the high standards of the dedicated golfer while capturing the magnificent beauty of the rolling, wooded terrain, Shadow Glen wraps itself around hills and bluffs as though it has always been here. Shadow Glen flows gracefully along rocky ridges and through tree-lined valleys. The traditional course design will challenge even the most experienced golfer.

Our Cause: Student Scholarship Support

The MNU Foundation Golf Classic was created to raise student scholarship support for the R. Curtis Smith Founders Endowment and the John W. Stephens Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Dr. R. Curtis Smith served as MidAmerica Nazarene University's first president from 1966 to 1985. He was a leader who had vision, determination, and courage to bring together the resources to create a Christian community of higher education. The R. Curtis Smith Founder's Endowment Fund provides scholarships for students studying for various types of ministry.

Dr. John Stephens served the University for 30 years and had a positive impact on countless students through his roles as educator and vice president for finance at MNU. He was a gifted math professor, administrator, and faithful golf tournament participant. The John W. Stephens Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits math and science students at MNU.
