The "Science of Compassion"

In today’s world there has never been a greater need for prepared professionals to assist those who are struggling with emotional and psychological pain. The field of counseling has been termed “the science of compassion” as trained counselors are able to facilitate hope and healing from personal and relational pain. Our Master of Arts degree in counseling is designed to train compassionate individuals to develop the knowledge and skills needed to be exceptional Professional Counselors.

A Master of Arts in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University incorporates a high level of scholarship with real-world application, supervision with actual client counseling and a Christian worldview oriented toward integrating psychology and faith. An overarching goal of our program is to first train you how to be a professional counselor and then to allow you to choose an area of interest in which to specialize.

MNU's Master of Arts in Counseling is available in two metro locations-- Olathe, KS and Liberty, MO.

The four areas of specialization in the MNU counseling program are as follows:
Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling
Mental Health Counseling
School Counseling
Pastoral CounselingPastoral Counseling

Within these four specialty areas you will be provided with the coursework needed to build on your passion to work within a particular setting or population.

Clinical Emphasis

The MAC degree currently has a low cost/free-of-charge community and play therapy center that allows students to serve the community from within a technologically-advanced and professional facility among the best. The Center is equipped with audio/video monitoring devices that create opportunities for students to experience the highest level of supervision and instruction available. Students are exposed to a wide variety of clinical issues and populations while being actively supervised by licensed university faculty.

MNU is now offering two convenient sites in which the counseling program is being delivered. We offer all four counseling tracks in both Liberty Missouri and Olathe Kansas. Those applying for the Liberty campus might have some travel to the Olathe campus for speciality classes.
