Men’s and Women’s Soccer Earn Shutout Victories

The men’s soccer team traveled to Oskaloosa, Iowa to take on William Penn University on Oct. 10. The Pioneers scored one goal in the first half off an assist from Eduardo Heringer to Alvaro Beltran, then added two more goals in the second half from Lucas Machado and Heringer. The Pioneers beat the Statesmen 3-0. MNU will play next on Oct. 13 at Benedictine College. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The women’s soccer team also traveled to Oskaloosa to take on William Penn on Oct. 10. Taryn McClendon and Steffi Krohn scored one goal a piece in the second half to help push the Pioneers to a winning score of 2-0. The team travels to Benedictine College on Oct. 13 to take on the Ravens at 5 p.m.

No. 19 Volleyball Falls to No. 15 Park

The MNU Volleyball team traveled to Park University on Oct. 8 to take on the Park University Pirates for the second time this season. MNU won the first set 27-25, but Park would go on to win the next three sets 25-21, 28-26, and 25-23. Cail Bessmer finished with 6 kills and a match-high 9 blocks. The Pioneers remain undefeated in conference and will look to get back on the winning track when they travel to Benedictine College on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

Pioneers Race at Haskell Invitational

On Saturday, Oct. 10, the MNU cross country teams traveled to Haskell University to get their first look at some conference teams. The women’s race was first, where six out of the seven runners beat their personal record for 5k. The top three finishers for the women were Kaylee Shanley (19:04), Halley Dean (19:21), and Sarah Heer (19:53). The women finished 3rd overall as a team.

The men finished 5th as a team for the 8k race. The top three finishers for the Pioneers were George Robinson (27:02), Jac Chelman (27:24), and Preston Weigel (27:38).

The cross country teams have a week off before traveling to Winfield, KS to compete in the Mid States Classic on Oct. 24.
