New Student Orientation, August 26 - 29, 2011

MidAmerica Nazarene University is excited to welcome all incoming freshmen students to our Fall 2011 New Student Orientation (NSO) on Friday, August 27, 2011. Residence Halls will open at 6 p.m. Friday night for new freshman to begin moving in to your assigned rooms.

The three days of orientation includes informational, academic, and social activities that will maximize the success of your transition into the MNU community.
At 3 p.m. August 27 all new students and parents will gather in the Bell Center Auditorium, to kick off our NSO activities.

Required for all new MNU students

Because we value our new Pioneers and want to do all we can to help you connect with the MNU Experience, we do require all incoming students to participate in NSO. You will gain a better understanding of what MNU and the surrounding Olathe community has to offer and meet some new friends, too. NSO is designed to “orient” you to the MNU experience – you don’t want to miss it!

Freshmen Seminar

NSO is the first part of the Freshmen Seminar course, which is part of the MNU educational experience. This one semester, one-hour course provides students with an introduction to the traditions of MidAmerica Nazarene University as well as assists students with their adjustment to the challenges of the higher educational experience. Freshmen seminar concentrates on essential study skills, time management, the value of liberal arts learning, setting goals, and other activities designed to enhance the student’s transition and success in college.

Each student will be placed into a Freshmen seminar group prior to NSO and will meet their fellow group members at the Welcome Session on August 27, 2011. Freshmen Seminar groups have 10-15 new students and are led by a faculty/staff member and student mentors.

Your NSO and Freshmen Seminar experience is a staple of the MNU experience. We are sure you’ll make memories and friendships that will last a lifetime! Can’t wait for you to come be a part of the MNU experience!
