MNU PTCO 

Professional Teacher Candidate Organization

This local umbrella organization is devoted to helping teacher candidates become professional leaders.

The organization works to facilitate communication and collaboration between various educational organizations and learning communities.

As a member, you will have the opportunity to participate in fundraisers, special events, and community service. You will also be eligible for exclusive scholarships.

  • Form a council of members to coordinate community service and other opportunities

Requirements for Good Standing

To be a PTCO member in good standing, you must complete two hours of community service and two hours/points of fund raising for each semester. You must attend four of the six meetings during the school year. The PTCO secretary will record attendance and points.


Constitution

Established in 2004; revised in 2006

Article 1: Requirement of Members

  1. Community service:
    1. Each member is required to perform 2 hours of community service per semester specifically for PTCO.
    2. Community service can count towards the education department's requirements for entry into the Teacher Education Program or for graduation.
    3. Community service hours performed for the education department cannot be counted toward PTCO hours.
    4. Suggestions: judging art and science fairs; Bible quiz masters; Volunteering at a Christian school.
  2. Fundraising:
    1. Each member is required to participate in 2 hours of PTCO fundraising per semester.
  3. Meetings:
    1. Each member is required to attend 4 of the 6 meetings per year.

 

Article 1: Requirement of Members

  1. President:
    1. The vice president from the previous year will become the president for the school year.
    2. The president will lead the meetings, set the agenda, and meet with the sub-group representatives and the council before each scheduled meeting.
    3. The president will be a senior that will serve for one school year.
    4. The president will keep a notebook that will be passed to the next year's president.
    5. The president will complete regular membership requirements. 
    6. In the event that the vice president is unable to fulfill presidential duties the following year, the members of the PTCO will elect a new president during the first meeting of the school year.
  1. Vice President:
    1. The vice president will be elected by the members of the PTCO at the last meeting of the school year.
    2. The vice president will serve as the coordinator for public relations (i.e. wil notify members of upcoming opportunities submitted by the sub-group leaders).
    3. The vice president will be a junior, and will become president in his/her senior year. This policy was developed to maintain continuity from the previous year.
    4. The vice president will complete regular membership requirements.
    5. The vice president will step in when the president is absent.
    6. The vice president will keep a notebook that will be passed on to the next year’s vice president.
  1. Secretary:
    1. The secretary will be elected by the members of PTCO at the last meeting of the school year.
    2. The secretary will take minutes at the meetings and submit typed copies to members and faculty advisors.
    3. The secretary will be responsible for publicity for meetings and other events.
    4. The secretary will complete regular membership requirements.
    5. The secretary will keep a database of all member requirements in order to determine members in good standing for certificates awarded at the education banquet.
    6. The secretary will keep a notebook to pass on to the next year’s secretary.
  1. Treasurer:
    1. The treasurer will be elected by the members of PTCO at the last meeting of the school year.
    2. The treasurer will maintain the bookkeeping of all money collected or spent (i.e. fundraisers).
    3. The treasurer will complete regular membership requirements.
    4. The treasurer will meet monthly with the ASG director of finance.
    5. The treasurer will keep a notebook to pass on to the next year’s treasurer.
    6. The treasurer will provide a financial report at each meeting.
  1. Historians:
    1. The two historians will be elected by the members of the PTCO at the first meeting of the school year.
    2. Historian duties will be split between two students.
    3. The historians will keep documentation (through pictures, news articles, etc.) of events in which PTCO members participate.
    4. The historians will complete regular membership requirements.
    5. The historians will keep a scrapbook to pass on to the next historians.

Article 3: Sub-Groups

  1. Service Project Representative:
    1. The representative will serve as the chairman for this committee and work with members to plan service projects, as well as find ongoing service projects in the area for members of PTCO.
    2. The representative will be elected by the members of PTCO at the first meeting of the school year.
    3. The representative will keep a notebook to pass on the next year’s representative.
    4. The representative will meet regular membership requirements.
    5. The representative will give a report at each meeting.
  1. Fundraiser Representative:
    1. The representative will serve as the chairman for the committee and work with members to plan fundraisers for PTCO.
    2. The representative will be elected by the members of the PTCO at the first meeting of the school year.
    3. The representative will meet regular membership requirements

    1. The representative will serve as the chairman for this committee and work with members to find and plan opportunities for professional growth.
