Kresge Academics Support Center

The Kresge Center is an in-center and out-reach academic support unit offering a range of services commensurate with most student and faculty needs. Kresge staff provide training in prerequisite skills and developmental skills, instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, studying, tutoring, text readability assessment for faculty, small group study groups, and study skills.

Developmental Education

The University offers developmental courses in reading, writing, and basic mathematical skills. Developmental courses in reading and writing are required if the English and reading ACT scores are between 12-16. The developmental math course is required if the math ACT score is between 12-18. Students may test out of the developmental courses if the reading, writing, and math placement tests are passed. The goal of the Developmental Education Program is to assist and equip students for further academic endeavors. Students in the Developmental Education Program can enroll in no more than 13 credit hours each semester. Developmental classes must be passed within the first two semesters of college work at MNU.

Placement tests are given by appointment at both summer orientations and at the beginning of each fall and spring semesters. ACT and CLEP testing

Students With Special Needs

The University offers reasonable accommodations to students with special needs in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act (1990). Any student wishing to inquire about accommodations should contact the Kresge Center staff. Prior to receiving accommodations, the student must provide proper documentation verifying the disability. Any information provided is strictly voluntary and will be kept confidential. The information will be used for the student's immediate benefit.

Location of the Center

Located on the first floor of the Mabee Library and Learning Resource Center, the Kresge Center is open during the fall and spring semesters on a drop-in or by appointment basis. Assistance requested at other times will be accommodated as possible by appointment.
