Such a Fine Teacher

Grandpa MNU taught many classes, many classes taught Grandpa MNU I am one of them and you may be to So let’s just talk about spirituality. MNU is about faith, community, and service. Not just the students, but the professors also aim for this. One of the most open, vulnerable, understanding professors is a man that has been through SO MUCH and is willing to talk to you about life. I even have a meeting set up to talk to him! This guys has been here since the beginning! He has taught numerous classes, as far as I know, all[…]

Thinking Back

HEY GUYS! So, it’s official, my freshman year is almost over. There are only two weeks of school left! Two weeks?? Where did the time go?  Where in the world have I been??  It feels like just yesterday I was going through NSO (New Student Orientation) Week.  And now I’m coming up on my lest week of school.  It’s crazy how fast time flies. We were talking about this the other day in class (how time has gone by so quickly).  There was a group discussion about our experiences in our past and it was almost completely focused on this[…]

24

24 is a pretty interesting number. 24 is the name of a tv show about fighting terrorism. there are 24 hours in a day. 24 oceans in a Switchfoot song. 24 eggs in a 2-dozen egg carton. 24 bottles of water in a flat. 24 engaged couples at MNU. …. WHAT. that’s like. 48 people. and don’t get me started on that number, but let’s just mention that it is only 2 from 50. which is half of 100. So for those of you who are happily engaged, congrats! and for those of you hanging out on team single for[…]

Photoboothin’

Once upon a time, there were 7 girls named Katy, Konner, Debbie, Lindsay, Ashley, Morgan, and Allegra. These awesomely talented and beautiful ladies were all in Public Relations, in which they were assigned a project. The project was to create a benefit event for a local nonprofit organization. The nonprofit chosen was Teen Challenge, and at the event, they decided a photobooth would only be appropriate. So the girls searched the highs and lows of Pinterest and found the above background, made with colored table cloths from the dollar store. A party busted out in Spindle 102, also known as[…]

The one where chocolate gets you an A+

This past weekend was MAX! This is where church youth groups comes from all over the region to compete in different sports. There’s basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, etc. So many teens come to this event and it is so much fun to just see people everywhere on campus. My old youth group was there so I got to see the kids that were younger than me. Some of my family also came because my cousins were playing in the basketball tournament. I loved getting to watch my little cousins play and see how much they have improved  since other times that[…]

Thas’ Why We Friends!

In another installment of the focus on community here at MNU, we will evaluate the simple things. The simple, easily over-looked things can have the most impact. When someone says, “Hi!” as you walk across campus, when a friend sits to have lunch with you, or you get that uplifting text that hits right where you needed it or maybe even a simple “Happy Birthday”. In the large scheme of spending 4 years here or especially in life, these seem like nothing. However, we don’t always see what’s going on underneath! That, “Hi!” could have come in the midst of[…]

Almost There

I just cannot quite believe that the semester is soon coming to a close. Here we are with two and a half weeks of classes left–there is a light at the end of the tunnel! This is about the time of the year when it seems like everyone’s running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I must say my mind is feeling a bit scatterbrained trying to keep up with everything, so I apologize if this post is just absolutely random. The biggest news I have to share is that I unexpectedly won $250 this past week! Our library[…]

Life Lessons From the Mouth of an English Teacher

HEY GUYS!! Lately I’ve been sharing some of my classroom stories with you guys, and I think it is about time for another one.  Don’t you?  OF COURSE YOU DO!  So here goes! 😛 The other day I was in class, English Composition II, and we were talking about our government.  The professor handed out a citizens test to see if we were knowledgable on our government and it’s history.  A series of groans and mumbles echoed across the room as he began telling us about this test we were about to take.  The class wanted no part of this.[…]
