The one where it all ends!

May 13, 2013 | By | No Comments

Well….ITS SUMMER! Oh my goodness I can’t believe that summer is finally here. This year has been so awesome. I have been through so much and changed in so many ways. It has been such a crazy year but I couldn’t have imagined it any other way.

I got to live in EUROPE! I am amazed at the all the things I got to do while over there. I got to have experiences that I will never forget. I’ve been to Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, and France! How insane is that?! I had the time of my life and I am so thankful for everything that my semester abroad brought about. I grew in so many ways while living in Europe and I believe that going and living abroad forces you to be in situations that challenge you and allow you to grow. I am absolutely expecting to travel in my future and I can’t wait!

This summer I am  moving to Springfield, MO because I got a job working with a church in their youth ministry. I also am getting the opportunity to be a part of a deaf community down there. I will be working on my sign language and becoming more fluent than I am now. I am so pumped. I will be moving into a downtown loft apartment with my best friend from high school. I am so excited to see what God does this summer. It is going to be great. –>  Sunny days. Hanging with kids. The lake. And making memories of a lifetime.

This entire year has been such a growing time for me and I can only hope that the years to come will be just as incredible.

It have been so blessed this year and I am so glad I got to share it all with you! If you are going to be at MNU next year – I’ll see you then! Feel free to come talk to me! I would love to meet you. :)

Learn one last thing new today: Frisbees were invented by accident. If you visit the park in the summer, you probably enjoy tossing a frisbee. This toy was created in the 1870′s as a pie plate. (Yum!) But students started throwing them around in the 1940′s – changing the use to a form of entertainment.

Thank you students of the 40′s!

Have a great summer –>  go throw a frisbee!

PEACE OUT.

3 More Years!

May 10, 2013 | By | No Comments

A year later, and here we are,  finishing the school year off and continuing on with our lives.  Finals are finishing up, and we are tying all of the loose ends of our assignments up and getting them all turned it. Some of us will be back next year, and some of us won’t be. We all have memories we will never forget, people we will never let go of, experiences we will never get the chance to be a part of again, and it all plays into our life we have encountered here at MNU.

As the hallways clear out, as the people pack their things, and as all of my friends drive away, it’s kind of sad. I think of the times I spent with people studying, messing around in the dorm late at night, going on  midnight Taco Bell runs, and just living a college life, and it is pretty upsetting.  Summer is here and all of that is gone.  A new path is unfolding and I’m still caught up on the last one.  I’m still wishing I didn’t have to leave even though I am excited that I am DONE with homework!  I will have no more of that!  No more ridiculous papers, no more 2 hour tests, or 4 hour study sessions! I…get…to..SLEEP!  But no matter how excited I am about less work, I will still miss this life more.

But, despite the constant weight of the end of the school year, even though summer is here, MNU isn’t going anywhere! The home of the Pioneers will be right here where we left it.  So I’m gonna keep my head up, keep my hopes high, and await the storm (by storm I mean summer :P)!!  So get ready MNU!  Cause I’m not done with you just yet!  I still have 3 more years of this place;  3 more years of memories, 3 more years of people, and 3 more years of experiences;  3 more years of studying and 3 more years homework for hours on end :(;  3 more years of the college life and 3 more years sleepless nights.  I still have 3 more years of living life as a Pioneer!

3 more years!!

So here we are, saying goodbye to freshman year!  And hello to the rest of our lives!

The one where procrastination triumphs!

ONE MORE WEEK!

This is the time when we all get summer fever. The last couple of days have been beautiful and some classes have even been outside! Our profs are the best!

A couple days ago some of my friends and I had a fish fry! The guys had gone fishing over the weekend so we all gathered in the back parking lot of Uphaus (an upperclassmen guys dorm) and had such a great time eating fish and fried potatoes and special recipe french fries. It definitely made us all crave summer that much more!

Next week is gonna be the last time that I get to share my life with all of you! I can’t believe everything I have gotten to do and experience over the past school year. One more week until I’m officially a junior in college. Such a crazy feeling.

I know that I should be reading and doing homework and writing and filling my brain with knowledge…BUT…I am so ready for summer and procrastination is sometimes just necessary! Now with that said – check out this video I found while not studying! :)
