Relationship Advice From an Unlikely Source

My dear friends of MNU Blogs, It seems like among high school and college aged students, relationships are the hot topic. I don’t know about you readers out there, but at least 75% of my conversations are about finding “the one” or dating or “talking” or something of the matter. This week alone I’ve had about 7 conversations about dating and relationships and it’s only Tuesday. I find myself pondering the question: Why are these people coming to me? I’m not qualified to answer their questions and here are some of the reasons why I’m probably the worst person[…]

Some funnies for your Thursday morning

These are my friends. They are aspiring worship remix artists and went crazy one night in Land Cafe (the “after hours” snack shop on campus) They start with Lord I Lift Your Name On High and end with some Kirk Franklin Medley. Watch when my bud Will joins the fun Enjoy!   [Kim Campbell I hope you laugh so hard it sends you into labor]

10 MUSTS before starting homework…

Hello Blog World. Senioritus has settled in. It is barely midterms. BLAH I never thought I’d be the apathetic student ready to finish school. Just a few short months ago, I wanted to get a job on campus after graduation so I could stick around because I love MNU so much. It’s amazing how quickly things can change. Still love MNU, but ready to move on to the next step in my life. Lately, I’ve been noticing that there are several completely illogical things that I HAVE to finish before I can even think about my homework. I know they’re[…]

Trusted Traveler, Homecoming Nominations, and Adventures in Target

Greetings Blog World. Once again, I am back in Kansas from California. I passed my Trusted Traveler interview and was granted a Sentri Pass! I was there Thursday-Sunday, and spent about 2 full days in the Amor Office in San Diego, so I kind of felt like I was on my own version of Ferris Bueller’s day off… except I spent my days in a cubicle teaching myself accounting and brainstorming fun ways I can fund-raise…and distracting all my friends in the process. I got back on Sunday afternoon, so my friends and I visited our other friend who works[…]

¡Viva Mexico!

Blogging world: it is a week of celebration. After nearly 22 years of living, 18 years of schooling, 9 years of serving in Mexico, 4 years of college, 2 years of pursuing a degree in Marketing, and a 2 month application and interview process…  I HAVE A JOB AFTER GRADUATION! This all started as a dream when I was 13. I went on a missions trip with my church to Juarez to build a house and decided that was what I wanted to do with my life. After my freshman year, I did an internship called Project Nexus (read about[…]

The Society: Dallas Conference

Greetings blog fam. For those of you just tuning in, I’m the President of The National Society of Leadership and Success: MNU Chapter. Last year I did an internship and started our chapter, and this is our second semester in the making. Holla! Over the weekend, one of our amazing advisers, Dr. Clark, took us to the regional leadership retreat in Dallas, TX. Dallas is about 8 hours away from Olathe, and the conference was from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. Pictured above is Dr. Clark, me, Savannah Hoit (treasurer,) and Katy Ward (Secretary.) [Not pictured: Ron Jackson (Co-Adviser) Emily[…]

Welcome to Senior Year

Remember that one time when I wrote about living in California/Mexico for the summer? Well, my internship came to a close and I’m back in good ole Kansas. I traded the rolling oceans for this:   Strangely enough, the blank open space is refreshing after a couple of crowded cities. There’s no place like home! (sorry, I just vomited from my own corny-ness.)   The picture above is of my good friend Stephen and me sitting in Accounting class. Before the lecture started, someone turned around and said “smile!” and snapchatted it to me. Pre-collegiate friends who are reading, take[…]

Summer Internship

Hello Blog World. What have I been up to this summer? Chilling by the pool? enjoying lake day weekends? Sipping lemonade and soaking up the sun? If you guessed any of the above, none are completely out of the question. The answer is, this week I started my academic internship with Amor Ministries in sunny San Diego! Amor is an international non-profit organization that holds a special place in my heart. Here’s a blurb from the website that shares the vision: Amor is best known for building houses in order to keep families together. Groups from all over come for[…]

24

24 is a pretty interesting number. 24 is the name of a tv show about fighting terrorism. there are 24 hours in a day. 24 oceans in a Switchfoot song. 24 eggs in a 2-dozen egg carton. 24 bottles of water in a flat. 24 engaged couples at MNU. …. WHAT. that’s like. 48 people. and don’t get me started on that number, but let’s just mention that it is only 2 from 50. which is half of 100. So for those of you who are happily engaged, congrats! and for those of you hanging out on team single for[…]
