A Mummy Like You

Blog world! In the spirit of Halloween, I have written a short story for you to enjoy! Remember, be safe this Halloween! Till Next time, Love, Britney A Mummy Like You- By Britney Lewis   I grabbed my jacket, brushed my brown hair into a ponytail, and climbed out my bedroom window in hopes to avoid confrontation with my parents. I was on my way to Whisper Creek’s hill in anticipation to see Caesarion’s spirit at midnight in the mausoleum. Caesarion was the son of Cleopatra VII and Julius Caesar. When he was seventeen, he was murdered by the current[…]

So you wanna teach in a small town, eh?

As an English education Major…as an education major, period, there are a lot of options to choose from when it comes to where you want to teach. I like to divide them into a few categories: suburban, rural, inner-city, and top-notch schools (which can be found in either of the other categories.) Growing up in the inner-city, I’ve always felt it was my calling to return back home when it was my time to teach. I’ve consistently felt the urge to give back to my community, to show those students love who don’t always receive it at home, and to[…]

In A Few Words Or Less…

In a few words or less I could tell you what I like the best. I like tea. I’m not a big fan of coffee. Ha! My favorite season happens to be Autumn. I like the way the leaves change colors before they crumble and fall. I like how it smells like Halloween for thirty-one days, and then how everything loses it all. I’m also obsessed with the spring rain. The sound of the pitter-patter against my window pane drives me insane–but in a good way. The thunder and the smell of it all makes me want to grab[…]

They Came In Like A Wrecking Ball.

If you came to my blog thinking it would be about Miley Cyrus…then there’s a good chance that you’re probably going to be very upset with me because my blog has nothing to do with Miley… It’s actually about Football. Yup…that’s right…today’s post is dedicated to Saturday’s football game against Baker University. Just imagine sitting outside in the stands on a sunny day. The air is cool, and the wind has entangled itself around you. The shouting crowd tingles your ear-buds and sends a rush of adrenaline straight to your heart. Everyone around you has their feet off the ground;[…]

What To Expect While Living In The Dorms…

A lot of people ask: Hey, what’s it like living in the dorms? And as I look back into their starry, wandering eyes, I give them the rapid, to-the-point, version on what life is like in the dorms. Because I think that’s what they want to hear… Because I think that’s what’s best… But it’s not. They want to know all the juicy details. They want to know what it looks like; how many rules there are; how many people are placed in a room, and so on and so forth… Luckily, I’ve had the pleasure to live in[…]

The Roommate Situation, My Life, Academics, and Other Things That Might Not Fall Into This Category

Blog World, it’s true: Today, my blog has no direct theme and is full of random information. Random information, in which, I hope you find helpful… The Roommate: I think the scariest thing about moving away from home, and onto a college campus, would be living with someone you don’t know. For the next nine months, you get to share your personal space with a complete, and total, stranger. However, it’s not as scary as it seems. A roommate can be someone you confide in, someone you share many laughs with, and someone you will remember for the rest of[…]

To Bring or Not to Bring–That Is The Question.

So it’s the summer before your first year of college, and you ask yourself: What the heck am I supposed to bring? It’s like you’ve been thrown out into the world naked: no clothes, no shoes, and no place to go. No one has given you directions, so you’ve been walking in a circle for the last half hour by yourself. You’re in a foreign place… It’s dark… and you’re naked! You feel hopeless, and you’re on the verge of giving up. BUT DON’T BACK DOWN YET. Thankfully, your life probably isn’t anything like the metaphor I mentioned above…and if[…]

The Always Awkward Ice Breakers…

Good evening beautiful blog world. Think back to your first day of high school. Remember the weird people? The rude stares? The cafeteria food? And goodness, those terrible Ice breakers that teachers make you do before you even get the chance to catch your breath? It’s like: You’ve been running around, in a foreign place, all day looking for classes; you barely make it pass the bell, and already, the teacher wants you to stand in front of the room and introduce yourself. Why????   Let’s all be honest here: Ice breakers are no fun. You’d think, after you hit[…]
