Chuck-E-Cheese, horses, and Ice Skating

November 18, 2013 | By | One Comment

Hey friends!

This weekend my roommate Amanda and I had the chance to take two of the cutest little boys on a date…..

to Chuck-E-Cheese!

As you guys have heard for the 50th time now, this whole week was TWIRP week (The Woman Is Required To Pay)! Amanda and I were pretty surprised that no one had TWIRPed the cutest boys on campus yet, so we decided to jump right in and do it ourselves. These two boys are Shelly Cotton, our RE (Resident Educator)’s boys! And they are adorable!

Here below is a video of us TWIRPing the boys!

Camden is the one who had his guitar with him in the video, and Caeric is the littler one! When we came to their door, Camden saw that I had my guitar and decided to run and get his too. Then they both ended up eating all the cheese cubes out of the tray. Which obviously meant that they were saying yes to our TWIRP.

Here are some pictures from our Date! :]

This is Camden, my date, with pizza on his face.

This is Caeric, Amanda’s date!

I had to share this video too because Camden’s face is just priceless. He was so focused on this horse, it was cracking me up.

MNU also had an Ice Skating event on Sunday night! We went to Crown Center, had the whole Ice Skating rink to ourselves, and skated around for a few hours! I definitely had a wonderful time with some lovely friends. Here are some photos for you guys:

2013-11-17 22.00.43

Sometimes when i ask people to take a picture of my friends and I, they end up taking 50 pictures of themself instead, and that is exactly what happened to me at this event. This actually happens to me with random people too.. for example:

2013-11-17 22.04.11

I have no clue who this guy is…

2013-11-17 21.59.21-1

Here’s another one… but i know this guy. His name is Hudson.

2013-11-17 22.31.44

Oh yeah, and there was also a lot of photo-bombing going on that night. Here is just the first one…(sorry for the many pictures of Regan and I, just pay attention to what’s going on behind us)

2013-11-17 22.32.00

Here’s the second try…

2013-11-17 22.32.54

And the third..

2013-11-17 22.33.38

Then there’s this one…

2013-11-17 22.27.25

Overall, this night was a blast. I absolutely love these wonderful people and wouldn’t have wanted to spend the night any other way. Also, sorry for the picture overload, i just had to share all of the funny happenings that were caught in the taking of these photos. :]

Until next time,

the blazin’ challenge

November 10, 2013 | By | No Comments

So, some of my friends and I decided to go to BWW’s (Buffalo Wild Wings) this weekend and a few of them decided to plunge to their death.

and by that I mean they decided to do the Blazin’ Challenge.

If you don’t know what this is, it’s when you have to eat 10 traditional wings with BWW’s BLAZIN hot sauce coated all over them; In under 6 minutes! You also can’t use any napkins or drink anything until you are completely done with the challenge.

And my friends decided to do this!!

All I have to say is… props to them! I don’t even like Mexican food, so I would have died in 2 seconds.

So here are some pictures, and I also captured the whole thing on video, so above this you will find 3 guys who decided to man up and die. Two out of the three of them finished! Caleb Denny, who was the one that didn’t finish in time said, “It’s because I’m white.” :]

2013-11-09 19.28.10

From left to right: Daniel, Asher, Jazmine and I. We were the 4 that decided not to partake in the challenge, but were very excited to watch what was about to go down!

2013-11-09 19.53.40

This is somewhat of a bad picture of everyone, but the three guys in the back, Marcken, Thomson, and Caleb, were the ones who did the challenge!

2013-11-09 20.01.23

Before the challenge…..

2013-11-09 20.14.16

After the challenge.

2013-11-09 20.14.58

In the end, I think they would all say that it was worth it!

2013-11-09 20.42.44

But most of all, the main reason that it was worth it was because the guy sitting behind us, (you can see him in the picture above this one) bet the guys that if they finished the challenge, he would give them $50! So all three of them ended up getting paid to do this!

So here you are blog world. I thought this would probably be enough amusement for my blog this week! I hope you enjoyed stopping by!

love,

Fall Retreat 2013

November 3, 2013 | By | No Comments

So this weekend I was blessed with the wonderful opportunity to go to Quapaw, Oklahoma to help lead worship for a fall retreat that was taking place for Central Church of the Nazarene and Mission Church! I got a chance to meet SO so many wonderful people, worship Jesus with them, have fellowship and laugh a TON. I was also able to go on a Zip-line, which was terrifying, but SO worth it at the same time! It was really an amazing weekend. I went with a worship team that was put together of 6 of us Mid-America Students and we lead worship throughout the whole weekend for the kids that were there.

If you don’t know me very well, I have a HUGE passion for worship. (Side story) When I first became a believer, worship was one of the things that really drew me closer into knowing the main attributes of God. I believe that worship brings us into a time with God that can be transforming for us in our lives and it also expresses to us who God is. I believe God uses worship in such a way of reminding us how loving, gracious, merciful, powerful, and mighty He really is! Not that other things can’t show us that as well, but I believe that God has placed a passion for music in my heart that really accentuates who God is personally to me. It has been such an amazing journey to come to this point, and I have definitely grown SO much through it all (and I am definitely still growing!)

I am just so thankful for Gods faithfulness in my life.

His unconditional love that has transformed me in every way possible.

And his grace that He has given to me every single day.

So here is a view of what all took place this weekend! Enjoy! :]

2013-11-01 18.09.28

I had to put this picture in here because I just really love clouds and sunsets. You guys know that already. :] I took this picture on the way to the camp! It was the sunset as we were driving there! I really think this is also a way that Gods glory, his beauty, and creativeness is displayed.

2013-11-01 18.41.15

This is a view of where the messages and worship took place! We also brought basketballs and other bouncy balls that the kids could play with!

2013-11-01 20.59.25

This is after we got all set up and were about to practice for one of the worship sets!

2013-11-02 08.04.29

 2013-11-02 11.20.34

Guys, this place was absolutely beautiful, and it was especially beautiful because of this time of year! I LOVE FALL!

 2013-11-02 14.00.13

Its kind of hard to see us, but this is my friend Erin and I!  Erin is an intern at Central Church of the Nazarene and was helping run this camp! We got to go on the Zip-line together! It was such an amazing experience. The Zip-line was pretty high up there, but the view was absolutely breathtaking! We had those harnesses that strapped on to you, and you had to take a rope up with you (which was called your baby) and that rope attaches to the zip line so you can just hang from it as you glide down the line! It was also a freezing cold day, so by the time we were done, our hands and feet felt like they were going to fall off!

But overall, it was more than worth it! :]

2013-11-02 18.02.34

This is Sarah and I! She has definitely been a huge blessing in my life and is teaching me every day how to be a wonderful leader and messenger of the truth that is Jesus Christ. She lead the worship team this weekend and I feel so incredibly blessed to know her!

Well I hope you enjoyed taking a look at what has been taking place in my life! I had a blast this weekend being with some wonderful people and resting in Gods presence. :]

Love,

-Heather Rose :]

The Weekend of All Weekends

October 28, 2013 | By | No Comments

Hello lovely friends,

Well as you can tell by my title, this weekend was pretty sweet. Probably one of the most eventful weekends i’ve had since I’ve been here. So let the pictures begin! :]

To start off telling you guys about this eventful weekend, I thought id let you meet one of my friends. Well, here he is. His name is Daniel. and yes, you’re right, he IS balancing on top of a metal bar in our laundry room, or as the door tells us, the “Launders.” daniel Maybe I should explain why this was happening. A couple of girls in our hall had their birthdays in the same week, so some of their friends decided to throw them a surprise party. This was his hiding place. room amandaLater that night, my roommate Amanda and I decided to go crazy and rearrange our whole room! This definitely was not a job we could do on our own. moving room

I know by the looks of Amanda and I you would have never guessed that we needed help with our bed because we are basically body builders, but in result of me almost being crushed by the bedframe, we called in the boys from the surprise party to help us with our bed! It was super nice of them to come over and help us, I wouldn’t have wanted to leave a party to go move a bed. But they did it anyways! so if you are reading this, thank you guys! :] We greatly appreciated it! bedandstuffs this is what my side of the room looked like before! finished room

so this is what my side of the room looks like now! ihopsign!

The next night, this was Friday, the wonderful bible study I am in decided to all go to Ihop for late night breakfast! I am extremely blessed to able to know every single one of them!

That next morning some of the dorms here at MNU came together and had a dorm event at the Louiseburg Cider Mill!

They had delicious hot cider, and sider doughnuts! I maybe ate 3 of them….

2013-10-27 00.02.47 This is Amanda (my roomie) holding up our pumpkin family. We went to Wal-Mart on Saturday night to get some baby pumpkins! We decided to make them into a pumpkin family. It was a wonderful time! 2013-10-27 01.01.24 Later that night, after we were all finished painting our pumpkin family, my friend Annie Wiskus comes into my room holding these glow stars! I was SO excited because I had been looking all over for them so I could put on my ceiling! (I know, I’m a little girl) But she finally found them for me and I could not contain my excitement! :] Now I can see the solar system when I go to sleep at night. Which is all I’ve ever wanted in life! Just kidding. not all I’ve ever wanted…but pretty close! :] So guys, this was my weekend! I hope this gave you a glimpse of the wonderful memories that can take place with a wonderful community of people such as the one I have here at MNU!

College..I love you.

Homecoming Happenings

October 13, 2013 | By | No Comments

Hello Blog World!

So guess what this week was?…. Homecoming Week!!

Which means crazy madness. In a good way.

Also, guess what is also next week for me and some other students here at MNU?…… Midterms! Woohoo! 3 papers to write, and 4 midterm exams. These weeks have been hectic!

But i’ts okay! That’s what college is all about! Don’t get me wrong, there are always some super fun times here, but also, cracking down on my homework and making that a priority is essential. Oh yeah… I mean I guess that is why I am here…to get my degree…

Any who.. I want to tell you guys about some things I’ve been learning lately. I know this is a very generic lesson God has been teaching me lately, but I feel that I needed to share it with you guys! God has really been tugging at my heart to keep letting things go. To let go of the things that I worry about, whether that be big or small, and place it in His hands. I find myself over and over again making things a bigger and more stressful deal than they should be. God is definitely still in control, I know that for sure, but it is hard to see the big picture sometimes. So on the topic of this week, I definitely have let some little things get to me. But overall God is teaching me than even though I most of the time I cannot do things with my own strength, HIS strength is made perfect in MY weakness. And that is pretty awesome. I know the things I am struggling with right now, going through, and stressing out about are probably nothing compared to what other people are going through, However; I am so very thankful that my God is SO big. He is enough for us, and He wants to be enough for us. I don’t know what you guys are going through, but I hope this gives you at least some sort of hope or encouragement that God is with you always, and knows exactly where you’re at in your journey of life! :]

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

-2 Corinthians 12:9-10

In His love,

Heather Rose :]

p.s. Here are some pictures of cool homecoming happenings that have taken place this week!

hoe down

If you already saw this image on my Instagram, I am sorry. mainly for myself. But this is my wonderful friend Emily! For homecoming we had a hoe-down, so we all dressed up in western wear and did some square dancing, had some root beer, and ate some doughnuts! It was the bomb. There was also a very bright spotlight shining right in our faces as we were taking this picture. So naturally, I received a shadow mask on my face.

After the homecoming banquet, some of my friends and I went to Steak ‘n Shake! It was my first time there, and I definitely had a wonderful time with these lovely friends.

My Journey to MNU, Volleyball, and Wolf Shirts.

October 7, 2013 | By | No Comments

Hello Blog World!
This is my first blog, ever. And I am so incredibly excited. First off I wanted to start by telling you guys how I got to MNU, and my amazing experience here so far!
So as I was looking for colleges I decided that I would probably prefer a Christian college over a state school. I looked at many colleges before MNU, but I never really got that feeling that I needed to be at any of them.
I have this friend that I know from church, her name is Kayla Rotola and she actually attended MNU! My mom is a realtor so she ended up helping her sell her house. So one day Kayla asked my mom where I was looking at for colleges and you know, I had no idea yet, and I also had never heard of MNU because I am not originally Nazarene, so my mom told her I was undecided. Kayla told her right after that, that we should definitely come check out MNU because it’s super amazing.
Shortly after this conversation we set up a visit to MNU, and I fell in love. I fell in love not only with this beautiful campus, but with the community here! As soon as we stepped on campus, I felt like I belonged here. It was definitely a God thing. I also love all of our Mission opportunities, the opportunities to serve around the community, and the majors that we offer.
Ever since that first visit I couldn’t get MNU out of my mind. It was a long process to get here, but I definitely don’t regret my decision AT ALL. :] So there’s my story of how I got here! Now for some lovely pictures of the events and all that has taken place since I first arrived on campus!

bedandstuffs

This is my side of the room! :] it’s a tricky process getting in and out of bed sometimes, but overall, having a bunk bed makes me feel like a little kid again. Which is always great!

volleyball

This was one of the first nights we came to MNU, the people in these pictures are a
part of my freshman seminar class! We had a volleyball tournament that night and
sprayed our hair orange! It was a blast. Unfortunately we only one 1 game, but
overall it was a good time.

This was our Black light event in Land Gym. They decorated the gym with these pretty lights and everyone dressed up! They had a chocolate fountain, music playing, and coffee, (which was my favorite part.)

volleyballgame

This was our first home volleyball game! They are pretty awesome! I played volleyball all throughout high school, so it was a great time watching them and cheering them on.

Just this past week we had our thrift store prom! We go to a skating rink, dressed in the best thrift store attire. And yes, I am wearing a gross brown colored wolf shirt, a flower crown, AND a calculator watch. It was great. :]

smiling singing

Last but not least, this past weekend I got the opportunity to go home with one of my friends Annie and play guitar and sing worship for her church! We had such a wonderful time and it was an amazing experience!

So this is just a glimpse of what my life has consisted of these past 7 weeks! I hope you enjoyed seeing all of the things I’ve been doing and experiencing around here. I am so thankful for the amazing people the God has placed in my life already, and how he’s working on this campus!
