Oh the places you’ll go… On campus

April 8, 2014 | By | No Comments

Hey there, Bloggers!

So last week I made a video about the places to hang out on campus featuring a few MNU students. It’s a different approach than the “typical student” would take to introduce you to common spaces on campus, so I hope it’ll keep you entertained for at least a minute and 49 seconds.

At the end is my roommate’s reaction to a prank we pulled on her last week. Enjoy!

The End is Where We Begin

September 12, 2013 | By | No Comments

Everyone….

It’s the moment you have all been waiting for..

I would go as far to say the most anticipated event within the last 3 minutes!

No, it’s not any other scandalous happening with Miley Cyrus, thankfully.

However, the window into my life is open once again!

Well, the last time we talked I was about to embark on what I would later learn to be the BEST summer of my life. It was one, if not the greatest, learning and growing experience I have been apart of! I traveled on behalf of MNU as a camp counselor all over the Midwest. 10 strangers, one van, one team, numerous of preconceived ideas, purposeful prayer, and a multitude of personalities all went into the oven of life to bake together! The end result; best friends, numerous incidences of God working, still 10 people shoved in a van, inside jokes #fuhdayz and memories enough for a lifetime or so.

This is where we started….

WWS

And we ended up here…

SergioIt may not look like much a difference, after all what can 3 months really do?

However, a small animal did make its way onto my face :)

The contrast between the pictures is largely symbolic of our relation to each other and vulnerability that we developed as a group. Needless to say, the Lord went before us, with us, and transformed lives from the inside out (mine for certain)!

Yet, with any great experience the question that soon follows is, “What now?”
Where do you take the memories, commitments, and lessons learned?

That’s yet another beautiful part of the community here at MidAmerica! I am surrounded by these same people and you can bet your bottom dollar (one of those sayings you refer to only from previous exposure and NOT because you know the true meaning) that memories and feelings flood back once I catch a glimpse of these beautiful faces around campus. We are all still here to support each other, even though we are all facing different and some pivotal points in our young adult lives; marriage, graduation, jobs, or even deciding what person to reach out to today. The Lord didn’t stay at those camps, He came back with us. If you ask most any MNU student or Faculty member they would contend that something is different this year and it’s not too hard to figure out WHO it is :)

This is the point where this new life begins. The one that Christ has filled me with by the power of His Holy Spirit. I am beginning the next step in the life God is designing for me as I go.

Anyway, that’s a short glimpse of my summer and where I am right now! If you want to know more, have any questions, or would like to suggest a post topic feel free to contact my by:

The Always Awkward Ice Breakers…

September 10, 2013 | By | 6 Comments

nature_header_13

Good evening beautiful blog world.

Think back to your first day of high school. Remember the weird people? The rude stares? The cafeteria food? And goodness, those terrible Ice breakers that teachers make you do before you even get the chance to catch your breath? It’s like: You’ve been running around, in a foreign place, all day looking for classes; you barely make it pass the bell, and already, the teacher wants you to stand in front of the room and introduce yourself.

Why????

Let’s all be honest here: Ice breakers are no fun. You’d think, after you hit college, these instances would go away…but they don’t. Fortunately, the professors at MidAmerica want to know what you’re all about; they want to know what you’re majoring in, who you’re living with, and where you’re from. It’s weird, but the profs actually care–which isn’t a bad thing if you ask me. So today’s blog is solely going to be an introduction on who I am…minus the awkwardness, of course.

My name Is Britney. I’m crazy in-love with God. I am a sophomore with a major in English education and a minor in art.

I love to write! Whenever I think of a cool line or quote for one of my characters, I stick it on my desk!photo

I also really enjoy art. My grandmother is an artist, so I guess it runs in the family. I’m quite humble about my talent, and I don’t talk about it much, but I do have a strong passion for it. Here are a few photos!

Most importantly, I am crazy about my nephew–He actually resembles me a lot.  His name is T.J. and he’ll be three in October! He has a sibling on the way! Hopefully it’s a girl. :)

Welp, that’s me! I have officially completed an ice breaker without sweating, nervous jitters, and the thought of passing out. I hope I helped shed some light on who I am.

It would be awesome if I could hear from you all, too! I’d love to know about your weird first days of school, or what inspires you the most in life! To leave a comment, click on the title above! Remember: Ice breakers will always be awkward…but make the most of your awkwardness by getting to know the people around you! Trust me, no one is judging you. ;)

Talk to you all next time!

Love, Britney!

A little fun around the admissions office…

September 28, 2012 | By | No Comments

It seems like everyday when I’m working, MNU’s director of retention/ every student’s bffl Dennis Troyer makes an appearance around the Admission’s office. This week, Dennis (AKA DT or the Destroyer)  had surgery on his eye. A story like this for Dennis is just not fun enough, and therefore told everyone that he got into a fight with me and lost.
