Wrap it up!
What a crazy semester it has been- I don’t think I can say I’ve had crazier!
A few things I won’t miss about Fall 2012.
No Shave November. (featured: Jordan Dages)
Studying and working on projects like… a cute metaphor that is not coming to my mind at the moment. (featured: Rachel Boan)
Cramming my brain with an infinite amount of ways to market products..
What’s interesting is that, all the things above are truly the things I enjoy the most about MNU as well. Any university will have No Shave November contests. Anywhere you go, you’ll spend long hours studying and writing papers and being creative. Any marketing classroom you enter, you’ll learn about the newest, the best, the coolest way to market products or services.
The difference between anywhere else and MNU: the community. The relationships. The fun!
Sure No Shave November is disgusting. But you know who isn’t? Jordan Dages. For all prospective students out there- meet Jordan. He’s hilarious and has Duck Dynasty quotes for days.
Studying is no fun. But you know who is? Rachel Boan. This girl has a heart for people, a mind of wisdom, and the moves like Jagger. She is everything I could hope to be and she kills it on the basketball court! It’s people like Rachel that will make you want to study, not because it’s fun, but because studying together somehow miraculously makes it a good time.
And the love/hate relationship of my life: marketing. I’m a marketing major. Clearly, I love Marketing. The hatred? I will never be able to mindlessly shop again. The picture above are buttons from JCP’s newest campaign. Just by walking into the store, you get these cute little buttons that have codes on the back. Everyone’s a winner- you enter them in online and get free JCP cash. What the heck?! Why didn’t I think of this!? And sure, maybe learning about all the different ways to successfully market products, services, businesses, and people will make me want to vomit at times, but at least the person who is teaching me all of this is cute and does not make me want to vomit!
For the official record, Prof Wallentine would hate to know that I took her picture during class and posted it not only on instagram, but now on this blog, but this woman deserves so much recognition! She makes learning fun, and cares about my entire being- how I am academically. How I am spiritually. How I am physically. How I am emotionally. I’m blessed to go to a university with professors like her. If I could grow up and be half the person she is, then this world would be blessed like none other. Lisa Wallentine, I love you for everything you are, stand for, and all you do. You push me (and the rest of your students) to be the best we can be and beyond. Your self sacrifice and willingness to go out of your way for your students is appreciated and we cannot express thank you in the written word!
