Jamie Droegemeier, who is earning his middle level math education teacher's license, (left) and Kathleen Bates, senior elementary education major, are two outstanding MNU students who were recently chosen by their teacher education professors to be honored as Teachers of Promise at the Kansas Exemplary Educators Network (KEEN) State Education Conference in Topeka, Kan. KEEN is comprised of exemplary educators who are leaders in school improvement, student performance and teaching.

According to Nancy Damron, PhD, chair of teacher education, Teachers of Promise are seen as future leaders in the field of education and are nominated based on the leadership they have shown in professional organizations, the  classroom, and through academic excellence in both their content area and professional education courses.

"We are honored to work with Jamie and Kathleen," Damron said. "They exemplify the kind of teacher we want our candidates to become. No doubt, they will transform learning for their future students."
