about

Humans are wired for story. In this lecture/discussion, science fiction author Daniel Schwabauer invites you to explore the role stories have in the formation of your identity. “The Story of You” has probably been shaped not just by the fairy tales, novels, and movies you’ve consumed, but also by the narrative question that made those stories meaningful. Understanding those questions and why we sometimes answer them badly can shine light on the story we are living.

Daniel Schwabauer, MA, is the Ben Franklin Award-winning writer of Runt the Brave, Operation Grendel, and Maxine Justice: Galactic Attorney and creator of the Amazing True Life Stories comic book series, as well as creative writing programs The One Year Adventure Novel, Byline, and Cover Story. His professional work includes stage plays, radio scripts, short stories, newspaper columns, comic books, non-fiction ghost writing, and scripting for the PBC animated series Auto-B-Good. At MNU, he is known as Professor Schwabauer to many English Composition students.

This program is sponsored by Humanities Kansas, a nonprofit organization that believes that stories carry our culture and ideas change the world.
