Verification

The effectiveness of the federal student aid program depends on the accuracy of the data reported by students.  Because of this, the federal Central Processing System follows procedures established by federal regulations to select students for a process called verification.  Thus, when FAFSAs are processed through the Central Processing System, certain applications are selected and flagged for verification.  The results of the FAFSA to the student and to each school listed will indicate the verification selection. The verification process requires that the Office of Student Financial Services at MidAmerica Nazarene University compare information from your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) with signed copies of your and your parents’/stepparent’s Federal income tax forms, W-2 forms and/or other financial documents.  If there are differences between your application information and your financial documents, the Office of Student Financial Services will make the appropriate changes to your FAFSA application.

You will want to submit your verification documents as soon as possible so that your financial aid will not be delayed.  The Office of Student Financial Services will contact you if there are any discrepancies, or if further clarification is needed.  A financial aid counselor can help you if you have questions regarding this process.
