"Multi-Cultural Church Leadership Advance" with Dr. Michael Burns 

March 22nd, 2012: 9:00 am-1:00 pm on the MNU campus in Smith 118 (Conference Room)

Dr. Michael Burns will be facilitating a discussion on the array of issues involved in leading a multi-cultural church.  The discussion will be guided by the particular needs, thoughts, and questions of those who attend the consultation.

Michael T. Burns was educated at Point Loma Nazarene University where he received his undergraduate (BA) and graduate degree (MA).  Additionally, he earned a Master of Theological Studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, and completed his postgraduate studies through the University of Manchester, England (at Nazarene Theological College).  His Ph.D. thesis was “John Wesley’s Doctrine of Perfect Love as a Theological Mandate for Diversity and Inclusion.”  Along with Dr. Ted Campbell, Dr. Burns published Wesleyan Essentials in a Multicultural Society (Abingdon Press, 2004).  He is an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene and has pastored for 30 years.  He has presented seminars for the General Church on multicultural and multi-congregational churches.  He also pastored National Church of the Nazarene, which has a 35-year history of effective multicultural ministry.  Dr. Burns currently serves as the pastor of Dodge City Church of the Nazarene, where over the last 10 years there has been significant growth and increased diversity.  He is also an adjunct professor at Nazarene Theological College, in Manchester, England, where he has taught students from all over the world.
