No. 8 MNU won a road game against Avila University on Wednesday, Feb. 3. Nathalie Felipe scored 17 points in the game, while Bailey Rinehart chipped in 10. On Saturday, Feb. 6, MNU hosted William Penn. The game brought out the best of all the Pioneers, especially Megan Balcom, who made eight three-point baskets for a new career high. She finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists Jasmine Webb scored 15 points, Tristin Wicks added 10, and Bailey Rinehart finished the six assists. The next game for the Pioneers will be on Feb. 10 at Peru State College starting at 5:30 p.m.

Jonas Page led the No. 20 Pioneers to a road victory against Avila University on Wednesday, February 3. Page finished the game with 24 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Next, MNU hosted William Penn on Feb. 6. A win for MNU would mean a three-way tie for first place in the Heart Conference. A big game for Justin Jamison and Jordan Whelan (a combined 31 points) helped boost the Pioneers to the victory. Nick Syrie also added a near triple-double, with 14 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. Peru State College will host the Pioneers on Feb. 10 starting at 7:30 pm.

Indoor track

A large MNU indoor track squad traveled to Crete, Nebraska to compete in the Fred Beile Classic hosted by Doane College. The top finishers for the MNU women were Olivia Brown and Denise Dantzler, finishing first and third place in the 60m dash, Victoria Marshall finishing fourth in the 200m dash, Victoria Marshall and Brianna Blackwell finishing second and fourth in the 400m dash, Kaylee Shanley and Halley Dean finishing second and fourth in the 5000m run, and Raiven Ellis finishing third in the triple jump.
The top finishers on the men’s team were George Robinson, finishing third in the 400m dash, Brandon Velasco finishing first in the 5000m run, Michal Riha and Matt Mayeske finishing first and fifth in the 60m hurdles, Isaac Zitterkopf finishing first in the high jump, and Michael Lewis finishing third in the triple jump. Up next for the indoor track team is the Heart Conference meet starting on Friday, Feb. 12.
