The youth and family ministry program at MNU prepares you for full-time ministry by laying a foundation of Biblical truth and theological understanding. You’ll get hands-on training in area churches and Christian organizations that involve you in transformation and helps you equip others for youth ministry in a family context.
This program meets all requirements to become ordained in the Church of the Nazarene and prepares you for ordination in many other denominations as well.
MNU is located in a national hub of youth ministry. Kansas City is home to the Global Ministry office of the Nazarene
Youth International, the Youthfront organization, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes national offices and the Kansas City Urban Youth Center. There are many opportunities to work in any of these diverse organizations.
There are many scholarship opportunities for Bible and Theology majors. In fact, all freshmen receive a $1250 their first semester and another $1250 scholarship once they pass the Introduction to Ministry course. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors can apply for the Ministry Student Scholarship Program ($4500-$7500/year) or General Ministry Scholarships ($1000-$3000/year). Ministry students seeking employment as a Nazarene senior pastor upon graduation can also apply for a $18,000 scholarship to minimize debt and ease transition into the ministry.
"My favorite courses at MidAmerica were my two semesters of Church History. My eyes were opened to the ways in which our denomination connects with the broader family tree of the Church and the ways that I as a leader can learn from the amazing leaders before me."
“I want to nurture the faith of my students wherever I am, whether in a class discussion as we integrate faith and learning or some other time over a meal, a cup of coffee or in my home.”
Mark Hayes, PhD
