Scholarship Challenge | January 19-20, 2018

Pit your brains against the best. We've identified you as one of the area's brightest students. Your academic excellence has qualified you to compete in this rigorous competition with the ultimate prize of full-tuition to MidAmerica Nazarene University! Put it all on the table and compete for these prestigious scholarships January 19-20, 2018.

What's at stake?

  • All participants in Scholarship Challenge weekend receive a $1,000* MNU scholarship for simply attending.
  • Top 10 Scholarship Challenge weekend participants receive a $2,000* MNU scholarship.
  • Top 3 Scholarship Challenge weekend winners receive a full-tuition* scholarship—that's $26,150!

Requirements**

Scholarship Challenge participants typically have:

3.75 cumulative GPA
— or —
27 ACT / 1200 SAT

 

*Renewable for four years. **If your GPA is higher, the ACT/SAT score can be lower. If your ACT/SAT is higher, then your GPA can be lower. The minimum GPA is 3.5 with a 30 ACT/1320 SAT. The minimum ACT is a 25 ACT/1150 SAT with a 4.0.

How to register

Online registration for Scholarship Challenge 2018 will be coming soon. You'll be asked to upload the registration materials in order to fully complete the registration process, but this form can be saved and revisited as you collect your materials. And we'll be sure to remind you if you've forgotten anything!

All registration materials are due by January 12 at 11:59pm

You also will need to collect:

  • 2 letters of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or someone who knows you well (not a family member).
  • 1 resume
  • 1 essay
  • 1 portfolio: Your portfolio should detail the things you are involved in, projects you have done, unique talents you have or generally what makes you special. Think about that Eagle Scout project, killer robotics competition or volunteer work you do. Or perhaps you're gifted musically? We want to see it. All portfolio items must be submitted as a PDF but all media (images, video, audio) are welcome... just include the links to your work in the PDF document.

Remember, registration materials are not needed all at once to begin your registration.

Basic Schedule | January 19-20, 2018

  • Friday, January 19th: Registration at 9:00am. Campus tours and evening social event.
  • Saturday, January 20th: 8:00am to 12:00 pm, individual faculty interviews.

Requirements for Winners

Top 3 Winner Requirements
(Full-Tuition Scholarship)

  • Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA to remain eligible for renewal each year.
  • Participate in the MNU Honors Program and be expected to meet at guidelines of that program.
  • Work at least 8 hours/week in the academic school in which they are studying. This work may include research, grading, administrative support, etc.
  • Forfeit eligibility for all other types of MNU institutional aid including but not limited to Partner Scholarships, Music and Athletic scholarships, and named endowed scholarships. (Top three winners are still eligible for all types of federal and state aid).
  • May be expected to represent the University at special events when needed.

Top 10 Winner Requirements
($2,000 Scholarship)

  • Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA to remain eligible for yearly renewal.
  • This level of winner will be automatically accepted into the MNU Honors Program.

All Remaining Participant Requirements
($1,000 Scholarship)

  • Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA to remain eligible for yearly renewal.
  • This level of winner may apply for entry into the MNU Honors Program, should they choose.

All scholarships will be added to each student’s financial aid award.
