Scholarship Challenge participants typically have:
3.75 cumulative GPA

27 ACT / 1200 SAT
*Renewable for four years. **If your GPA is higher, the ACT/SAT score can be lower. If your ACT/SAT is higher, then your GPA can be lower. The minimum GPA is 3.5 with a 30 ACT/1320 SAT. The minimum ACT is a 25 ACT/1150 SAT with a 4.0.
You may start your registration form at any time, even if you've not yet collected all of your registration materials. You'll be asked to upload these materials in order to fully complete the registration process but know that this form can be saved and revisited as you collect your materials. And we'll be sure to remind you if you've forgotten anything!

What criteria will be considered for those who will receive the three Scholarship Challenge scholarships?

What attire is appropriate for the two days?
The first day you may dress in casual attire. Students will be expected to wear business professional attire for their interview.
What will I need to stay overnight with a student host at MNU?
Housing will be provided for students only. Each student is expected to stay on campus Friday night. Please bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Students will be hosted by our current students and will stay in our dorms.
Do I need to attend the whole event?
Yes. We ask that each student experience the entire event including staying overnight on campus. No exceptions will be made.
I’m a local student… do I have to stay overnight?
Yes, all students are expected to stay overnight.
Can family members come with me?
Yes! We will have programming for parents throughout the day Friday and they may also attend Friday evening. Saturday, there will be no programming for parents. We would also recommend parents check out what Kansas City has to offer. Parents will need to book their own lodging. There are several hotel options around MNU.
Is there any cost?
There is no charge for this event. All of the food and lodging for students will be covered.
Will I receive anything for participating?
Every student who attends the Scholarship Challenge event will receive a $1,000 scholarship for being in attendance for both days of this competition. This scholarship will stack on top of whatever academic scholarship they qualify for. If a student is selected in the top 10, they will receive an additional $1,000 that was also stack on their academic scholarship.
Are the scholarships stackable/combinable with other scholarships?
The three full-tuition Scholarship Challenge winners are not able to be combined with any other institutional aid. If a student received an outside scholarship, it may apply towards room, board, and fee charges. The $2,000 Top 10 Scholarship can be combined with any other institutional aid.
What is the schedule for the weekend?
The Scholarship Challenge event will begin at 9:00am on Friday, January 27nd. Friday will have a campus tour, time to meet current students, faculty, and staff. You will learn about research being conducted on campus and learn about our campus community. Friday evening we will have a social event that will allow you to get to know some of our students. The interviews will take place Saturday morning from 8:00 – 12:00. You will receive your individual interview time the week of the event. View the schedule.
What do I need to prepare before I arrive?
The following items must be submitted by January 12 at 11:59 PM: Essay and Portfolio. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
When will the Scholarship Challenge recipients be announced?
We will announce the winners approximately 10 days after the event. All recipients will receive a letter from the Provost, Dr. Mary Jones, with the results.
